IL Vespino Vecchio — Restaurant in San Bartolomé de Tirajana

Due to the good reviews and some personal recommendation we went there yesterday for diner. We favour italian cuisine ! The bruscetta were the worst we ever had, loaded with pickled sour onions, the bread consistence was like chewing gum in the middle, no herbs/spices, no garlic and the tomatos tasted like the had never seen the sun. Btw, you can easily get fresh tasty cherry tomatos all year round at the Canary islands. Having avocado additionally on the bread might be a nice try, but did not work out for us. The price for this three slices of bread was about 6,50€... My lady choose the pasta of the house, advertised with salsiccia, but had some chopped hard to identify meat in it. Tasted neither that bad but not good, just boring she said. Price about 12,50€. I had a salad of the house, containing the tasteless tomatos, some cabbage, chicoree and smoked salmon. To my surprise I found something white mass I coud not identify in the middle underneath after a few bites. Tasted and looked a lot like wet kitchen cloth paper. Called the manager to ask what it is and he took the salad back to the kitchen. He came back after some minutes, apologised and offered a new salad which I refused to take and asked for the bill. To my suprise they billed the salad, so I asked to take that off please, what they did afterwards. The manager apologised a second time, now explaining it was some paper what is used to separate the smoked salmon slices and they would not charge us for the three beers we had as well. Ok, that was fair at least. My summary according the quality and price the food we had there: Cheap ingredients converted into boring recepies on big plates with inappropriate pricing. Leider kann ich insgesamt nur 2 Sterne vergeben, da bei uns einiges schief gelaufen ist. Die Inneneinrichtung, das Ambiente und die Speisekarte verdienen mindestens 4 Sterne. Das Restaurant Il Vecchio Vespino (Der Alte Motorroller) ist in San Augustin und hat einen Parkplatz eigens für Restaurantbesucher. Sehr schön gelegen und mit einer tollen Aussenanlage. Wir wurden an einem nicht gut positionierten Tisch begleitet, alle Kellner mussten ständig an diesem Tisch vorbeilaufen, darum haben wir uns kurz danach umgesetzt. Es sind viele Kellner unterwegs und das macht die Atmosphere etwas unruhig. Einige sprechen deutsch, italienisch und sicherlich auch englisch. Die Bestellung der Speisen ging komplett schief, denn die Kellner verlassen sich ausschliesslich auf die Technik und die Vorspeisen gingen "verlohren". Den Hauptgang haben wir zurück gehen lassen und die Vorspeisen erneut bestellt. Danach kam der Hauptgang - nicht einfach aufgewärmt, sondern wieder frisch zubereitet. Der Manager kam des öfteren, um sich zu vergewissern, dass alles in Ordnung ist, er entschuldigte sich und spendierte uns eines der Vorspeisen. Ende gut alles gut, leider nicht! Auf der Rechnung wurde uns die spendierte Vorspeise berechnet und zwei weitere Getränke die wir nicht hatten. Das wurde nach Aufforderung korregiert. Fazit: Vielleicht war es einfach nur ein schlechter Tag, wer weis. Eine zweite Chance hat das Restaurant verdient.

Desafortunadamente puedo dar solamente un total de 2 estrellas, porque muchas cosas no estaban bien. El diseño interior, el ambiente y el menú merecen al menos 4 estrellas. El restaurante Il Vecchio Vespino (La vieja Vespa) está en San Augustin y tiene un aparcamiento para huéspedes. Esta muy bien ubicado y el alrededor es muy lindo. Nos acompañaron a una mesa no bien posicionada, todos los camareros pasaban constantemente a lado de esta mesa, así que poco despuez cambiamos mesa. Hay muchos camareros y eso hace que la atmósfera sea un poco inquieta. Algunos hablan alemán, italiano y ciertamente también inglés. Al pedir los entrantes y primeros hubo un error, porque los camareros dependen exclusivamente de la tecnología y los entrantes se "perdieron". Al llegar los platos primeros nos dimos cuenta que algo estaba mal y los mandamos de vuelta a la cocina y pedimos los entrantes una vez mas. Los primeros que tuvimos fueron preparados de nuevo, no fueren simplemente recalentados los anteriores. El gerente vino varias veces para asegurarse de que todo estuviera bien, se disculpó y nos invitó a uno de los entrantes. Todo bien al final, ¡desafortunadamente no! En la factura nos cobraron el entrante y otras dos bebidas más que no teníamos. Esto fue corregido una vez reclamado. Conclusión: Tal vez fue solo un día mal, quién lo sabe. Greeted by happy waiter at the entrance, The restaurant was busy, lovely atmosphere and setting. I sat outside with my partner, as the sun went down it became quite romantic. Fernando was amazing, he looked after us mainly, knew his menu and vino too! All of the waiters attend to you and they are all so friendly, even the manager/owner is humble and welcoming. Starter - We shared crispy prawns, beef carpacio and mixed salad. Delicious! Mains we had ham and mushroom pizza, toppings galore! And I had the lamb tortellini which was a special recommended by the great Fernando! Desert - panacotta with fruits compote and lemon sorbet for my partner. Washed down with complimentary shot of Limoncello! Made the night perfect! With 2 pints of Lager and a bottle of wine just under £100. Would definitely...
