Beware of Overcharging – Dishonest Pricing & Rude Service

Two days ago, we visited this restaurant on a hot day. After walking for a while, we stopped for drinks and ordered a pint of beer, a juice, and a Coke. When the drinks arrived, the staff immediately handed us the bill. To our surprise, the prices were much higher than what was listed on the menu:

Pint of beer: €5.00 (Menu price: €3.60)

Large Coke: €4.50 (Menu price: €3.50)

Juice: €3.50 (Menu price: €2.80)

In total, we had six beverages and were charged €27.50.

When we questioned the waitress, she casually responded, "Today, these are the prices." I asked if she could show us a special menu or any notice stating the price changes, but she barely acknowledged us. Instead, she rudely threw a piece of paper on a tablein front of me with something written in Chinese characters (which we couldn't understand, especially since we were in Spain) and walked away without another word.

From that moment on, no one came to explain the situation, apologize, or even acknowledge us. We were left feeling cheated and ignored.

This place is dishonest and tries to overcharge unsuspecting customers. If you decide to go, check your bill carefully and compare it with the menu prices, they are blatantly trying to scam people. Avoid this place if you value fair pricing and good service. And I am going to report them to the Consumer Office (OMIC).

ES: Cuidado con los sobrecargos – Precios engañosos y servicio pésimo

Hace dos días visitamos este restaurante en un día muy caluroso. Después de caminar un rato, decidimos parar a tomar algo y pedimos una cerveza, un zumo y una Coca-Cola. Cuando nos trajeron las bebidas, inmediatamente nos entregaron la cuenta. Para nuestra sorpresa, los precios eran mucho más altos que los que figuraban en el menú:

Cerveza (pinta): 5,00 € (Precio en el menú: 3,60 €)

Coca-Cola grande: 4,50 € (Precio en el menú: 3,50 €)

Zumo: 3,50 € (Precio en el menú: 2,80 €)

En total, pedimos seis bebidas y nos cobraron 27,50 €.

Al reclamar a la camarera, simplemente respondió: "Hoy estos son los precios." Le pedimos que nos mostrara un menú especial o algún aviso indicando el cambio de precios, pero apenas nos prestó atención. En lugar de explicarnos, nos tiró de mala manera un papel en la mesa delante mia con algo escrito en caracteres chinos (que no entendimos, especialmente estando en España) y se marchó sin decir una palabra más.

Desde ese momento, nadie se acercó a explicarnos la situación, pedir disculpas o siquiera reconocernos. Nos sentimos estafados e ignorados.

Este lugar es deshonesto y trata de cobrar de más a los clientes desprevenidos. Si decides ir, revisa bien la cuenta y compárala con los precios del menú, porque claramente intentan engañar a la gente. Evítalo si valoras un precio justo y un buen servicio.

This buffet restaurant is actually a bit different to classical buffet restaurants you will find somewhere else in Maspalomas. Instead of having a self-service counter, you will order your items from a menu and your selection is then freshly prepared and brought to your table. You pay a fixed price per person (12.95 €/adult at the time we were visiting) and can order as much items and as often as you like (all you can eat). This way, the food is always fresh and not staying for hours on a hot plate as with other buffet restaurants. As a side effect, this also reduces food waste as only the items you order are being prepared. We liked this concept very much.

The food quality was outstanding and tasty, and the available selection was way beyond our expectations for a buffet offering. The service was excellent, friendly, and very welcoming.
