I don't say this lightly, the worst food I've ever eaten in a restaurant. Absolutely appalling. I don't often review restaurants badly and I'm aware this is going to read like an assassination, but it feels like a duty to let other people know to avoid this restaurant and avoid spoiling their night. The food really is that bad.
Maybe let's start with the positive: the waiters were polite and attentive (and didn't raise a fuss about the amount of food we left on our plates after each course). I honestly spent the meal feeling bad for them because they must know the food they're bringing out is depressingly terrible.
The food was impressively disgusting. Nothing was fresh, but if it were just pre-bought and reheated supermarket food it would have been a big improvement.
Unfortunately I ordered the set 3 course menu so felt obliged to see it through, but I really regret not throwing in the towel and cutting my losses after the first course.
For the starter I had the 'ceviche'. This was almost comically bad. It was effectively a tub of Doritos salsa with a few defrosted prawns mixed into it garnished with some badly chopped onions and some crackers and tortilla chips on the side. It basically tasted like a plate of ketchup and served as a warning for what was to come.
My wife ordered the tomato tostadas. These were soggy and clearly bought oven ready and then reheated in the microwave. This is a staple Spanish dish so to serve it in this way is really embarrassing.
My main was a minute steak. The portion size was generous, however, despite being a very thin and medium cooked cut of meat, it was very stringy and chewy. I was having to pull out chunks of every mouthful. It was also swimming in garlic butter so I couldn't really taste the steak, but I'll give the chef the benefit of the doubt on this one and call that a stylistic choice rather than being objectively bad.
Finally, for the dessert I had the chocolate tart. I expected this to be at least passable: how bad can a ready bought tart be right? In the end it had a sour tang to it and a strange grainy texture. I took two bites and thought it best not to risk getting ill if the dairy had gone off.
In the end, I left with a bad taste in my mouth both figurative and literal. I really regret letting my courtesy get the better of me and not saying something to the staff or cutting the meal short. I think I just felt so guilty for the staff that I didn't want to upset them.
I have no idea how the other reviews are so high, this was...
Read moreThe food (microwaved food) was a disgrace. I would avoid eating here as not only the taste was terrible but also there is a risk of getting ill from it as none of it was fresh and also smelled bad. I ordered the garlic and tomato bread and the ceviche, the bread was soggy as if it was microwaved and the ceviche tasted ok ketchup and the prawns were frozen. My sister ordered potatoes which were again frozen. I honestly don't understand the reviews. I think its shameful to make people pay for this and these amounts. It is also shameful to serve unfresh food and risk intoxicating people. This place ruined my last night in...
