Viejo Tango Villamartin — Restaurant in San Miguel de Salinas

I give 5 stars because the food was absolutely 5/5. The service, also 5/5.

What I did not like was that flies were everywhere due to the open location earlier on in the evening (we arrived at about 7pm). This spoiled the atmosphere for me a little early-on but the issue eased as the evening went on and things were better by 9pm.

May I suggest, to turn this into a 5/5 star experience all-round, that you should invest in some outdoor ultraviolet/electronic anti-insect units and citronella units or suitable alternatives to help keep flies and wasps off guests. Because this is my sole point of criticism and it seems like a small issue to put some effort into addressing for guests.

That said, the service was very good and attentive. We were shown the range of steaks on offer and everything was explained to our party. Nothing was too much trouble and the waiters were very eager to help.

Cannot praise this restaurant enough. Booked an outside table for 2 people plus our dog a couple of weeks ago for last night. On arrival were told they were not serving outside tonight due to the uncertain weather. However, the staff were ultra helpful and, despite being very busy, found us an inside table with space for our dog without hesitation - a great start. On to the food - Just wow! The waiter shows each cut of steak, gives the weight and explains how they prepare it before you order. We both declined starters and went straight for the 400g Viejo Tango special with a shared portion of fries - the meat truly was melt in the mouth, definitely one of the best steaks I have had in a very long time. This is not a cheap restaurant, but it isnt overly expensive (certainly compared to UK prices). Our bill came to €78 for the two steaks, two glasses of wine and two large beers, which for the quality of food, ambience and outstanding service I think is very reasonable. I don’t normally leave a review but this was needed, I came in Easter at it was great , food brilliant , service even better we had the first time we where in the main room and the waiter Leo showed us the different types of meat , and the second we where in the second room and Valentina showed it to us , they both explained it very well but this time when we went they where nowhere to be found , I don’t know why is that , nobody show it to us , the service was alright not bad but it was much better with the old team , and I can’t forget about Vinny he was helpful with choosing the wine , I really hope they bring them back , the food was really good the only thing is that it took a really long time and there was a women small with glasses not really friendly honestly I think she is the owner.
