Restaurante MARA Sotogrande - Pto. — Restaurant in San Roque

This was the second time in this restaurant. We came again becsuse we liked it the first time we was there. But this time is was not good. Why I'm giving one star only? Because there is no zero stars. Here are the negative points We went there 2 days ago to make the reservation in person and chose the table we like. When we came in today that table was already taken by some other customers and the stuff even didn't apologize for it. I ordered a Fanta and it came in open in a wine glass so it was even less than 250ml One of the plates has a big cut. That's a no go for an expensive restaurant. The already high prices in the menue are without iva (tax) so you have to add 10 to 21 percent on top. So the owner is afraid to show the real prices because then they are more high as they already are. They forgot to bring one of the starters and when they brought it it was so late so the main course came nearly same time. All the mains was warm or nearly cold. All that and the restaurant was even not half full. Waiters was standing at the bar doing nothing. At the end we didn't like to order dessert or coffee. The bill was 150 euro for 3 people. We will not go there...

We managed to get a table on Thursday night only because, as tourists, we tend to dine earlier than the locals—otherwise, we wouldn’t have been so lucky. Reservations here are a must!

The restaurant is set in a quaint little square with a small fountain that creates a soothing background sound. I found the location charming, and since there was almost no car traffic, it felt calm and relaxed.

Service was very attentive, even though there were a few minor misunderstandings along the way. As for the food—every dish we tried was excellent. The red tuna sashimi melted in our mouths, the sardines served over a crisp salad wedge made for a wonderfully balanced starter, and the red prawns were as fresh as it gets—absolutely delicious. The sea bass as our main course was perfectly prepared and filling.

All in all, a fantastic experience. Wishing all the best to this restaurant...

Cuando fuimos a pedir la comida, pedimos en un principio un plato de fritos variados para el centro y dos de los 5 comensales pidieron el plato principal y dijimos que luego pedirían los otros 3. Traen el frito y el resto de comensales pidieron su plato. Trajeron el plato de ellos pero no el de los primeros dos. Esperamos media hora pq era un plato al horno y era normal que tratara. A los 50 min preguntamos a uno de los camareros como iban los dos platos primeros y fue a preguntar d3ntro pero nunca volvió. A la hora y veinte fuimos a preguntar en persona el porque de que tardará tanto y fue cuando nos enteramos de que según uno de los camareros, los dos platos primeros se los habíamos pedido a otro camarero qué por lo visto ese no era para la comida pero el camarero nunca nos dijo nada sobre eso. Ellos por lo visto no pudieron hablar entre ellos para dar la comanda y nos echaron la culpa a nosotros. Al final nos dicen que si queríamos o no los plato y que si lo queríamos eran 10 minutos. Al final tardaron otros 40 minutos mas. Cuando vas a un sitio de calidad y pagas, esperas un servicio de calidad, pero fue bastante decepcionante. Nunca dieron una disculpa ni una explicación. El servicio en un bar de carretera es mejor, aunque no quiero meter a todos por que fue uno de ellos el que nos dio el servicio a nosotros. Una pena estar dos...
