The experience in this place was quite extraordinary. So I was coming along with a friend and we would really just stop there for the appealing offer of 2 Manzanillas and 2 Tapas on offer for 6€, planning to keep going after that. Everything was going as expecting until the tortilla de camarones was served. It was presented on a wooden mount to allow it to cool down faster as it was obviously taken freshly from the stove top. The taste was amazing. At this point we decided to explore the menu a bit and couldn't believe our eyes. The creations on the menu sounded surprisingly sophisticated. We went through a variety of dishes there and felt ourselves transitioning into some alternative reality soon. The food would easily compete with Michelin listed places in our homes in the UK and Germany. It was flabbergasting! So we would ask ourselves if maybe we may have ovrdone the flamenco party the night before, went to Jerez and got so drunk the we ended up dying from alcohol poisoning only to find ourselves in the heavenly quarters of culinary delights after death. Only a third friend asking via message if we are down to have meatballs had us focus on the real world again! So as we were imagining how fast José Manuel would make it to New York or Lima cooking like this, we found ourselves in tears over just how delicios the cod with black garlic and hints of mint chocolate was. I can only recommend anyone who visits Sanlucar to take a trip to the heavens here.

We had such a weird experience here. Ordered a duck salad with crunchy almonds. Got a salad with warm pork, carrots and peppercorns. Sent it back telling the server it was pork not duck. He came back twice saying the chef said it was duck. We told him to take the plate into the kitchen and show the chef that it was white pork, not brown/pink duck, and again they insisted it was duck 😵‍💫. What kind of chef doesn't know the difference between duck and pork! Did they think we were just idiot tourists who wouldn't know the difference? They handled the situation so badly, refusing to acknowledge the mistake. We said we weren't paying for the salad, and eventually another person came out saying they wouldn't charge us for it, but this was gaslighting of the highest form!

The food was good, not great. The one dish my wife really liked I didn't and vice versa. The others didn't impress either of us. As for atmosphere, the stream of unhappy people walking by was, frankly, depressing. Note to the manager of this place: we were at your place early on Saturday; the one waiter was not up to the task of handling the whole place by himself; he needs to 'scan the room' (in this case, the outdoor seating) to see if customers need something rather than avoiding eye contact. The service picked up when an older (not old) blonde women showed up to help.
