As someone who has mostly worked in customer facing roles I don't like to complain about customer service staff. However our entire experience at the Golden Buddha was tainted by dreadful customer service. When we got to the bar/restaurant we were amazed by the view of the sea and the bar itself looked stunning (which was the only reason I gave it 2 stars). There were also cats dotted about both outside and inside the bar which was very cute (although one of the poor things was on a fabric chair in the corner [see photo] and looked like it had possibly weed itself and was surrounded by small critters which we were concerned might've been fleas).
We went to grab a table outside and an incredibly aggressive waiter shouted at us, making everyone else outside jump and look puzzled. We went to leave assuming it meant we were not welcome for some reason or they were closing up (it was 1hr till closing according to Google). He shouted at us again and very intensely and loudly told us not to leave but that he just wanted us to know we couldn't order outside we would have to go to the bar, which we said was fine and we had just wanted to grab a table outside, he was practically squaring up to us by this point telling us in a strangely aggressive manor that he would serve us and to go into the bar.
We went in and all the staff ignored us for about 5 mins despite only 1 out of about 4 making drinks, all looked incredibly grumpy and disdainful. Even when we eventually got served they seemed like they didn't want us to be there and that they didn't either (as mentioned earlier, it was an hour before closing and there were still other people there + ordering. It's not like we were cutting it particularly close and the guy outside didn't seem to want to let us leave).
We got our drinks and sat out the front. When I had finished my rosé (which was quite vinegary), my family and I decided to leave. My mother and brother decided they wanted to take the rest of their bottled Fanta with them. My mother got a headstart whilst my brother and I were still collecting our things, as we were leaving the man came running towards my brother and shouted aggressively "YO. DUDE. YOU CANNOT TAKE THAT BOTTLE.". It was a glass bottle so I understand that some places may not like to let people leave with glass in case of people using it as a weapon but he did not need to be so rude and aggressive. He did then say if my brother wanted to take the Fanta he could take it to the bar and get a plastic cup but my brother was so spooked and embarrassed by the whole situation he said he was fine and left his drink there.
Dreadful experience over all, such a shame as location and setting are fab and would've liked to return to try the food one day but after that experience, unless they have all new staff next time I'm in Ibiza, I won't...
Read moreWe had an evening meal at Golden Buddha on the first day of our holiday, with the intention of watching the famous Ibiza sunset.
We arrived relatively early at 8pm and were able to be seated straight away at a lovely table that had excellent views of the beach and out to sea.
Service was at first slow but once our orders were in drinks and food arrived quickly.
The atmosphere was chilled but with an electric anticipation because of the sunset. Around 9pm the restaurant was full, ready for the sunset and a queue had formed so you may want to arrive early to guarantee a seat.
For starters we had patatas bravas and satay skewers. Both were excellent but the satay was a highlight, they gave an abundance of sauce which was lovely.
For main I had the ribs, they are huge, beautifully cooked with a delicious sauce. Despite their size there was not much meat but this is simply because they are ribs rather than the restaurant being cheap! I’d still get them again.
My wife had the yellow chicken curry. She said it was delicious and would also order again.
We ordered the sangria and recommend it highly.
The view is the highlight, being able to comfortably sit for a couple of hours and watch the sunset is the real draw. The friendly chilled atmosphere...
Read moreWe were here yesterday and enjoyed our time, but could have been a lot better.
FOOD: First of all, the food is really good! We had Nachos, Chicken Wings, Patatas Bravas, and Pizza. Al tasted exeptional.
My only problem is the Pizza is not a Pizza, It is super small, there is no indication on the menu, how small quantity you are getting, and we were 4 people wanting to split the pizza, 2 slices each, finally we could only split 4 very small pieces each. It was great, but I feel a bit ripped off.
SERVICE: Sadly, the service was terrible. Very very slow, with the restaurant being almost empty. The tables and chairs were dirty, and we had to go inside from the terrace multiples time to request drinks or food, because they would not come to us.
We asked for water for our dog, it never arrived, I had to go inside and get it myself.
Instead of serving us, the staff was playing around in the bar with each other, not really noticing what is happening around.
Every request took more than 10-15 minutes. So overall, I suggest a totally new staff.
ATMOSPHERE: Good, but there is sooo much wasted potential. It could be so much better. It is the end of november, and they are still with Halloween...
