A very shoddy experience last night... You will notice that a number of the lower ranked reviews mention poor service. We had the worst customer service experience since we've been coming here. We've eaten here before and the food is fine - it seems fresh and it's not particularly overpriced but.. there's better meals to be had in this district of San Antoni. The setting by the beach is great but you'll have a nicer meal at The Beach just further along the cove (and definitely better service!)
On the 1st visit we really struggled to get the table we preffered - it wasn't reserved but it seemed to us as if we weren't the right kind of customers or "regulars" who might have deserved it more. The rest of the meal went off fine without incident but the demeanor of the waiter was duly noted. On the 2nd visit they were downright rude. We arrived without booking but there were tables free. We asked where could they find a nice table and at the same time as he answered the nearby house phone (already rude..) he pointed to the poorest one available just inside the entrance. By the time we asked if there was a nicer table further into the room (there was...) he was by now, speaking to someone on the phone and literally just waived a hand at us as if to say 'take it or leave it.' We resolved to leave there and then but before doing so I waited for the telephone conversation to end (no doubt a reservation call) and then I briefly told him what I thought of his appalling attitude! His response was in Spanish pretending not to know what the problem was. This kind of attitude sucks; you can't get away with that sort of behaviour as a waiter or maitre D anymore... hence...

We made an advanced appointment but when we arrived there (around 7:30pm) is seemed like they didn't even see us. We waited on the entrance for almost 10 minutes, even though the place was not crowded (only 2 tabels busy). All the waiters passed by without even looking at us, thing which is quite uncomfortable. We ordered a starter and a main dish, and while eating we ordered one more bottle of water, and the waiter was somehow disturbed by our request. I ordered a dessert, but it was too sweet for me, so I was not able to eat everything (1/3 leftovers) so when the waiter came to clean the table he was very rude saying "are you not gonna eat that?". I explained myself saying that I am sorry and he rolled his eyes making a "forget about this" sign with his hand and the next thing he said was "I'll bring you the bill", thing that we didn't appreciate at all, it seemed like he wants to get rid of us. We were thinking that maybe he was having a hot and hard day, or that maybe it was the end of his shift, but still that's a no go, especially when you work on one of the best restaurants in the area. Hopefully it was just us that had this...
Read moreWe had a great dinner at Es Virot. The appetizers were the standout. The garlic prawns are to die for, the sauce was absolutely incredible and juicy, and we kept the marinade to put on everything. The scallops were also very good and the staff was helpful with gluten free offerings.
The fish and seafood paella was good, but after a week of life changing paellas in Ibiza it did not quite measure up. If paella is your priority I would recommend El Carmen for the best.
For dessert, the barbecued pineapple was tasty and fresh. My friends had the millefeuille with pistachio cream and enjoyed the cream, but the pastry itself was not anything special.
Overall, Es Virot is warm and welcoming with appetizers that alone make it...
