BLACK BAR NOT FOR BLACK PEOPLE Do not waste your time… 0 stars!
We had planned a visit to Reggae Reggae Beach as part of a holiday itinerary for my son and me. We were both genuinely excited to experience what we thought would be good vibes and culture. Sadly, what we encountered was far from that.
When we arrived at the bar, we were completely ignored — as if invisible — by the two staff members standing right in front of us. One had dreadlocks (an embarrassment to Rastafarian culture) and the other was white.
We stood directly at the bar, the only customers there, for over five minutes with no acknowledgment. I eventually had to wave and say “Hi!” just to be seen. Only then did the white bartender respond with a dry “Hi” — no smile, no welcome, nothing more.
I politely asked for a non-alcoholic strawberry daiquiri for my son. The bartender said “OK”… and then walked away to do other things behind the bar.
The individual with dreadlocks, who also worked there, stayed completely silent the entire time — never looked our way, never said a word. Silence spoke volumes.
Soon after, a white customer approached. Within one minute, he was warmly greeted with, “Hi, how can I help?”, and served immediately. His drink was prepared in two minutes — meanwhile, we had now been waiting over 10 minutes for ours, still unacknowledged.
The white customer even gave us a look, clearly confused and aware of the unequal treatment we had just received. When I reminded the bartender that we had already ordered, he responded with, “Oh, I thought it was a question.”
Really? Was the white customer’s order a “question” too? No — and he was already served and gone while we were still waiting.
Eventually, the bartender made the daiquiri and placed it on the bar without a word. Not even a simple “Here you go” or “Enjoy.” The silent treatment continued. We chose to walk away without taking the drink.
I should have read the low-star reviews beforehand — they clearly show that this bar consistently refuses to acknowledge feedback or take accountability for their service.
This was not only disappointing, it was a teachable moment for my 12-year-old son, who sadly witnessed how people can treat others differently based on skin colour — or just be outright rude and dismissive.
To brand this as a “Reggae” bar while treating Black patrons this way is beyond ironic — it’s disgraceful.
I’ll be posting a video on TikTok to sharing the live experience. Look up: #BlackBarNotForBlackPeople #ReggaeReggaeBeach #ReggaeNot
And to whoever staff reads this: I do not want your sarcastic or dismissive response. Your bar will carry the stain of this review — and...
Read moreWanted to come here for a while and was slightly underwhelmed. Not a lot of seats unless you want to pay for beds I saw a deal for 2 people for beds and cocktails and it was 120 euro.No table service so stood in queue for ages as staff were very slow and then have to wait again to collect food and drinks which were nice but not amazing. The music was as expected and the bar looks attractive. The actual beach it is located on is beautiful little cove with clear water and soft sand. I would come back to the beach but would probably...
Read moreGreat location, superb music but sadly that is where it ends. Service is so slow, only two staff making drinks and lots having cocktails. Should have a separate part of the bar to serve beers and soft drinks. The bit that really annoyed me I was overcharged for the two drinks I ordered. Should have been 10 euro and got charged 14. So to summarise lovely location with amazing tunes but rubbish service and check your...
