I went to Zazu yesterday while on vacation with my friend, and I genuinely wish we had never set foot in this place. We had booked for dinner, and honestly, we should have turned around the moment we arrived. While taking photos outside, a woman walked out and told her friend how terrible the service was—and then her friend added they were racist. That should have been our first and only warning.

We ignored the red flag and went in anyway. Big mistake.

We ordered the lobster paella, and after waiting over an hour, what finally arrived was borderline inedible. It was ridiculously salty—to the point where we couldn’t eat it. We politely mentioned it to the waiter, who responded by insisting, “We don’t use salt.” We suggested maybe it was just over-seasoned, and he snapped back saying, “Well, no one else has complained tonight. There’s nothing we can do.” Essentially telling us to suck it up.

After that, we were completely ignored for the rest of the night. No one checked in on us, no one offered drinks or dessert. It was like we were being punished for speaking up.

Then came the final insult—the bill. The paella, which was listed as €55 for two people, was suddenly €110. When we questioned it, they claimed it was €55 per person—nowhere was that made clear. We explained that we couldn’t eat the dish and had barely touched the rice, so we asked them to meet us halfway, since we did eat the lobster. Instead, they walked off and ignored us for another 30 minutes, supposedly to speak with the manager.

At that point, we decided to pay for everything else and left €55 off the bill for the paella we couldn’t eat. As we were leaving, they chased us out of the restaurant with the card machine. The manager suddenly appeared and said he was calling the police. I don’t speak Spanish, so I have no idea who he actually called, but they forced us to pay the full amount.

I tried to calmly explain how bad the food and service were and how disappointed we were—but the manager ignored everything I said. Then, to top it off, the waitress claimed he didn’t speak English. The whole situation was surreal.

Terrible service. Disrespectful staff. Overpriced, inedible food. And called the police on us over bad paella ? Absolutely disgusting behavior. This experience truly ruined our evening and left a dark cloud over our trip.

We should have read the Trustpilot reviews beforehand. Please, do yourself a favor and stay far, far away from this place. We will...

Attitude, attitude, attitude.

Ate dinner here last night Sept 15th around 9.30pm. Sat at the back of the restaurant in the beach kind of area.

All I can say is I have never experienced a more rude, ignorant and disrespectful waiter in my life. I never leave reviews on anything but for this I had too. She was an older woman maybe in her 40s or early 50s.

Firstly, You access the menu through a QR code on small wooden block, my girlfriend and I did not realise this (an honest mistake). This waiter came up to us to ask what we would like to eat and when we said we were waiting on menus she picked up the wooden block and slammed it on the table, twisting her face and shrugging her shoulders. Completely unacceptable.

Again, when she re-appeared to take the order, just as my girlfriend started talking, she quite literally walked away from our table. Albeit I think she noticed we didn’t have a lamp on our table, but the manor in which she done it was again completely disrespectful. She could just wait until after we had given our order no?

Then thankfully the food and the drinks were brought to the table by different staff who were super friendly and polite.

Now the final incident which is what really forced me to write the review - paying the bill.

It was clear we were finished with our food however, instead of clearing the plates she stood and spoke to her Spanish friends at the table next to us for 10 minutes. When she turned around I said ‘excuse me’ to which she totally ignored and walked off. She then came back, spoke to her Spanish friends for a further 2 minutes then this time same again, she turned around, I said excuse me and she ignored, then I said it a 3rd time, pretty loudly this time. To which she gave us a nasty look and said ‘what?’ She knew exactly what she was doing. I gave it 20 minutes but she didn’t bother to give us the bill and was purposefully ignoring us. I made the decision to go up to the kitchen area to pay, there was a guy in a black t-shirt who was super helpful, we showed him the table we were sitting at and he helped us pay.

A shame because the food was good, the setting was nice, and all the other staff were super friendly and helpful. But for whatever reason this woman had a problem with us from the start. She is a dis-credit to...

Is there less than 1 star ⸻

Arguably the worst restaurant experience I’ve ever had. and this is the first bad review I've ever left because I never ever leave bad reviews because I like to give people the benefit of the doubt however on this occasion that is definitely not happening so here is my very first bad review I’ve been fortunate to eat at many lovely restaurants, but this one was truly awful. We booked here before going to see Calvin Harris, and I ordered the salmon. I actually like salmon skin, but what arrived was so overcooked it was like pork crackling—completely inedible.

When I politely explained this to the waitress, I was simply told it wouldn’t be taken off the bill. No offer of an alternative, no apology, just the dish being taken away.

When the bill arrived, I naturally refused to pay for the salmon I hadn’t eaten. What followed was shocking: five members of staff surrounded me, creating a scene over a £30 piece of fish. I was threatened with the police, and to make matters worse, subjected to racist remarks telling us to “go back to our country.” Absolutely disgusting behaviour.

The whole bill came to £160, and for that I was treated like a criminal, served average food, and insulted by staff. It was deeply embarrassing and completely unacceptable. There is video evidence of what happened (though I won’t post it), but I can honestly say this was one of the worst dining experiences of my life.

It’s no surprise the restaurant was nearly empty—about 10 people in total. Now I understand why. Save your money, avoid this place at all costs, and to the staff: some serious lessons in basic manners and customer service...

Where to start. Shocking quality food, shocking quality service. Avoid. 1 starter was inedible. 2 starters were cold, were sent back as cold yet returned 20m later....still cold. No apologies. Then came the main courses. One of the burgers was an embarrassment, I would not have accepted it at a kids birthday party, never mind a restaurant @ €26. We didn't even touch it. It was laughably bad. Spoke with the manager at the end (Alexis?) who was very polite, said he would adjust the bill for the 2 cold gyoza starters, the nachos that were unedible & the duck spring rolls that were poor..plus obviously the burger that remained untouched. When the new bill came out he'd only adjusted half of the items we had discussed. I raised this with the waitress who did not want to know and insisted that the remainig €190 would need to be paid. By this point we had been in the building almost 3 hours including waiting and discussion time. When the manager stated he was sorry and would remove the items in question, I promised I would not add a poor review. But after the items were not removed as discussed & nobody seemed to care, I advised the waitress that I'd pay the stated amount, but to tell alexis that I would indeed be adding 1star review. Long story short ish, really poor food, really poor service. We've come away having spent €190 and feel completely ripped off, with me not even having eaten a main. So bad.

The initial communication was great as we were a party of 20. However the food, the service and the price brought it all down. I was told the grill shrimp dish is different as they had ran out but it’s an upgrade prawn so had to order extra side. I didn’t expected to have just 1 prawn that is aprox 6cm long, the price stayed the same at €34 & my side was £6.60, I could not believe they felt this was ok to serve at €40.50. When we complained that this is unacceptable we were told that it was explained, spoke with manager and after some discussion he said he would take it off the bill. This has dampened the mood. We ordered 3 cavas & again the service wasn’t great, we had to pour our own drinks, ended up with returning last bottle as it wasn’t open and we had enough at that point! The service was slow, and not very attentive, I understand it’s busy and we are a large table but it was expected to have busy night and large table. The entertainment was excellent, singer and dancers were great and restaurant looks good but that night it was so hot and we were all dripping in sweat before the starters, when asked to to put the fan on, it took time. Final bill came & the over priced prawn wasn’t taken off so we had even further discussion and at this point ready to leave. It was a shame because we were a large group and would have spent a lot more money on drinks and food but we left early and disappointed.
