Delaney's Bar & Diner — Restaurant in Sant Llorenç des Cardassar

So, I have been here 3 times now, so I feel I am qualified enough to post an honest review.. even though I feel the owner will be upset and abuse me for it, as seems to be the norm on this review thread... here goes...

Visit 1- October 2022. We walked for 30 minutes to this bar as reviews said how amazing it was, the bar and all of its decoration is pretty cool and really does look the part, if a 90's American diner is your thing. The beer/drinks were cheap, cold and refreshing, what more could you ask for from a beverage in the sun? The staff however were far from accomodating! The older lady was finishing her shift and clearly just wanted to get home, she growled at us and walked out leaving us standing there twiddling our thumbs. Then the male bartender (German gentleman that people also mention), he wasn't rude, but certainly wasn't overly welcoming, we had 2 drinks and left because of the lack of service.

When visiting at this time we saw the big Biomar hotel behind and fancied visiting there, so we booked this for September 2023, where we decided to revisit on the off chance this was just a one-off bad experience.

We arrived and was once again met with the same 2 faces being rather unwelcoming when ordering our first drink. The bar was empty (one or two other tables), we had our drink and decided to have another as it was hot, when ordering this drink the hosts warmed to us and we sat had a nice conversation and felt very welcome, we stayed longer having a fair few drinks and a lovely experience, even spoke about the positive review we would leave. Paid our bill and left happy customers promising to return. The only downside is the lady was moaning that she should have gone home 2 hours before but had to wait to help take a delivery in. This didn't affect us, but not ideal to flaunt your 'dirty laundry' to paying customers.

Just a few days later we returned for some food, I must say the food is lovely! If American diner food is what you're looking for, this really is brilliant. The buffalo wings in particular were incredible! However, the service went back to being embarrassingly awful, not just for us, but for tables around us too. They may have felt pressure as it was rather busy this time around. The wooden bench we sat on just days earlier and vaped for 4 hours was now a non smoking/vaping table and the older lady growled as she ushered us onto the very next table along. She seemed to enjoy this too, maybe an act of power? I don't know. The German gentleman that i mentioned earlier was also rather rude and short with both us, and other customers.

It is such a shame as even though this place is a fair way off the main drag it could be great with the right staff. Looking at the replies from the owner on some of the negative reviews, it doesn't surprise me that his staff act in this way, I feel he probably acts exactly the same, unfortunately we just didn't get the opportunity to meet him to express our...

We arrived as a party of 7, 3 of which were small kids. We couldn't wait to experience with the huge hype presented on FB by Delaneys. We were so disappointed! The 2 waiting staff, one older English woman and other woman, I've never experienced "hospitality" like it. It was like every customer that came in was an inconvenience to them, so rude! Barked at customers around us who were enquiring as to how much longer they would have to wait to be served. There were cats sitting on the seats at our table where we are meant to eat. 3 tables walked out in annoyance at how they were being spoken to and how long service was taking. One member of out group asked could we put in our food order. And the old lady Barked over her shoulder it would be at least 45 mins before order was taken. The place wasn't even half full! Can't understand it. An older man, I assume has affiliations with the business stood at the entrance to the bar looking upset at all the large tables leaving, have to say I did feel sorry for him but it was a shambles the night we were there. We then left too as it was a ridiculous wait time for trying to feed small kids. I wouldn't like to part with hard earned money for service to be spoken to like dirt by staff. All comments on Facebook of honest reviews and experiences are deleted. So I suppose this is the only place to go next. Such a shame .....

UPDATE I find your response comical, your assuming we are Irish, when in fact some of our party are English! Also curious what that has to with this...Not once were any of our group rude to your staff! Quite the opposite actually, your very much so in denial! Our party also did enter the bar to source menus ourselves, like you suggest we do rather than "bother busy staff", hilarious! And when they did it was not rammed packed with supporters . We were there over 2 hours before kick off, plus I never commented on your large screens or drink offers, neither related to my experience! 4 tables that all walked out one after the other is testament to what happened so you can argue back yourself. Lastly you yourself are the admin of the hotel group you are referring to hench the comments being deleted there too. And all comments were being posted under Delaneys posts nowhere else in a snide way that you are seeming to allude to. Maybe some off the many hours you spend online Could be put to improving your establishment instead of arguing with...

Very disappointed with the food. We are not picky eaters at all either but when paying €15/18 for a burger, we expect it to be fresh beef patties at least. These were 'Chef Larder Booker' bought in frozen burgers which to serve at a restaurant is terrible. Can't comment on anything else as all we had was burgers but they were shocking. Not what you'd expect from an American diner and wouldn't recommend going for a burger fix.

The response from the owner says it all really. Terrible customer service along with terrible burgers. As many others have said; instead of putting all of your negative energy into arguing, turn it into positive energy and do something to better your food.

Regardless of where these cheap nasty burgers are imported from they taste like burger van burgers the same you can get supplied from Bookers in the UK at 38p a piece. I notice you mention other reviews a lot on about the burgers. This is not all people who love your burgers.

Nobody mentioned Spanish burgers... Fresh beef patties for an American diner is quite standard practise not frozen cheap rubbish. But McDonald's to be honest sounds like the better option so I recommend anyone who wants a burger fix to go there or burger king as you will receive better food and service no doubt.

Real shame as we gave you a second chance this morning. Breakfast SERVED 11am-1pm but was told at 11.10am they aren't ready and was told to wait by the old lady who's attitude and hospitality skills are deplorable. But another told us to come and take a seat and served us with drinks and menus. We were then told again by the old lady who clearly has some issues that there's no point looking because the kitchen isn't even open yet. Even arguing between what other staff members have said. 5 minutes later the nice lady came back out and took our order... so the kitchen was indeed open. The breakfast was very nice and we thoroughly enjoyed it all but to read your response while eating was comical.

Wouldn't recommend for the service alone. Again a disappointing visit. Honestly do yourself a favour and just avoid! The comments made below should be enough to see how bad it really is. Apparently not valid customers although we put money in their pockets. It's actually comical to read your responses from other customers.
