I’m not impressed at all with this restaurant, I’ve walked past many times over the years and finally had the opportunity to dine there. So I was looking forward to our dining experience.. our table wasn’t ready so we had to stand in the middle of the restaurant while they cleared our table and we were in everyone’s way. Then we ordered drinks which we prompt but no drinks menu. Then we ordered our dinner… it took 45 minutes to arrive, way too long in my opinion to wait for food. I ordered the lamb shank which was swimming in grease, no table check back, no offer of more drinks. The empty plates sat in front of us for approximately 20 minutes, when they were finally cleared, we weren’t offered dessert… the service was appalling. Disappointing evening for a double birthday celebration at what has been a firm favourite restaurant for years. Mistakes happen of course, but a string of them meant our main courses for four, reordered after mussels were served cold , arrived at different times. Good quality food really didn’t make up for not being able to eat together. Having to ask repeatedly for basic items like butter added to the general feeling of lack of quality service. Despite total agreement from the waiter, and later from the manager, that the whole evening had been unacceptable, there was no adjustment offered to the bill. Modern clean interior, cool ambience , very good food (for the most part) , this place has the potential but to tick all the boxes but it needs to sort out its service. Took 10minutes to get the menu after being sat down. Then we were offered some bread but no butter until requested (twice) and it arrived after the starter been served. Managed to squeeze in cocktail order when menus were provided but after cocktails were finished took a while to grab attention to order more drinks. Not to say that staff are slow or lazy but just seemed like there was not enough people, at least to begin with. The food was worth the wait in the end (4.7 stars for food alone).
