We visited Bar Costa in Santa Gertrudis the other day, and it’s easy to see why it’s so popular among locals. The bar has been around for ages and has a charming, authentic Ibicenco style, with its rustic interior, cozy fireplaces, and interesting paintings on the walls. The menu is quite simple, but that’s part of its appeal—the baguettes are the star of the show. Prices are very reasonable, leaning more towards the budget-friendly side.
However, the service was a bit of a letdown. The staff seemed very busy, and at times it felt like they were ignoring us—we had to call them several times to get served, which came across as a bit rude. Despite this, it’s still a place worth visiting if you’re in Santa Gertrudis, as the atmosphere and food make up for the service issues.

Family owned and operated this non stop flow of bread, cheese, ham and cured meats... plus beer and wine is the place to hang during the summer or winter... its one of the few bars that is still seating its customers on the traditional short benches and tables that make this place so Iconic... make sure you Tour the inside of the restaurant on the way to the bathroom perhaps, you will find the private art collection of past guests who didnt have enough Pesetas to pay for a meal so they would pay with original framed artwork.. another peculiar thing is the owners taste in music... its rock and hard rock! and its always blasting in the background.. :) located in the center of St Gertrudis, you are bound to bump into some local celebrity or who knows maybe an international one... order the Cecina... my...
Read moreUnassuming tapas place, that does what it does extremely well, but with no frills. The jamon and other cuts are so good. Their bread is the perfect accompaniment. Pair it up with a little house red, and you've got yourself a meal. They are extremely busy, so don't lose your patience with the staff, they have their hands full. But they are pros, so trust that you are in good hands. In the meantime, enjoy the super interesting art on the walls. One word of advice: try to shift the time you eat to be maybe 45 minutes earlier than usual. This way you'll be more likely to avoid the crowds, and you can be sure that this place gets super busy (if you get there at peak lunch time, you can expect to wait in line 45...
