Bodega Montaña — Restaurant in Santander

Echoing a review left 3 yrs ago (the owners obviously don’t care about the reviews nor make any changes based on customer feedback). I only wish I had read some of these reviews before going there. The woman who seated me at about 3pm, on a not very busy Thursday afternoon, did greet me with an initial smile. However, it was all rapidly downhill from there. I asked in my not great Spanish for the menu. She brought me a Menu el Dia and stood over me, noticing my poor Spanish (DuoLingo for some months), she started shouting loudly at me to choose one item from each course. I hadn’t had even a moment to review the menu, never mind do a quick translate to see what some items were. She was rude, impatient and seemed to enjoy berating me (presumably for my poor Spanish & lack of comprehension) in front of the entire restaurant. I had to order immediately as she drummed her pointed, skinny finger, into the menu saying ‘elige uno!!’ (Choose one)!!

On to the food. First course; greasy / oily salmorejo (cold tomato soup, with grated hard boiled egg & cured meat garnish), second course; oily scrambled egg (heuvos revueltos) with some dark mushrooms in, served on top of greasy potatoes. For the third course desert (postre) I had to ask to have the menu brought back so I could review the options. The bar tender guy questioned me as to why I’d need to see the menu again, as if it was an unreasonable request. I stood my ground, he returned with the menu. Third course; pudin coco which I mistakenly thought was chocolate pudding (wrong!), an egg based flan or set custard with grated coconut, the egg taste was overwhelming for me.

Overall, disappointing food and a bad experience with an extremely unpleasant woman and the guy who seemed inconvenienced by my request to review the menu again before selecting a desert. La mujer… Ella No Es Simpatica! The only recommendation from me is that you don’t go unless you have fluent Spanish and can put up with the entirely uncalled for rudeness. ...

Visited because of a friends recommendation. Had the 'Menu of the Day', nice soup, tasty but greasy main course, and an uninspiring desert. I've had much better food for the same price so far this trip. But the main problem was that I didn't feel very welcome. I was rushed to order, before I'd had a chance to translate the menu. I wasn't brought any bread, unlike the tables of locals. Was asked for my coffee order the moment my dessert touched the table, it then arrived immediately. After I'd finished my dessert I went to the toilet for all of a minute, and on returning found that my table and unfinished drink had be cleared. All in all it felt like they couldn't wait to get rid of me. It rather spoilt...

Como había leído buenas reseñas tras la reapertura decidimos ir ya q estábamos por la zona,en el viejo montaña comíamos a menudo ya que vivíamos cerca y era de lo mejor en calidad/precio.Lo primero que me ha sorprendido es lo vacío que estaba al ser verano y las 14,entendí por qué más tarde,el menú 15e (correcto tirando a bajo viendo lo que hay en la zona)la sorpresa es que SOLO ES UN PLATO(con platos de cuchara a veces eso te lo esperas,como con un cocido lebaniego que trae compango o te traen la olla como hacían con la anterior dirección),el menú de un plato traía cosas tan complejas como....patatas fritas con huevo y chorizo(15e solo ese plato de menú,postre pan y agua)pensé que al menos las raciones serían muy generosas,y visto las fotos de las reseñas así parecía.....pues ni mucho menos,pedimos unas rabas carísimas para la cantidad y calidad(la mitad estaban algo pasadas tirando a duras)se comió el 80%de la ración mi hijo de 3 años de la que esperábamos los platos.....la ración minúscula.yo pedí cocido montañés(antes los platos de cuchara estaban increíbles aquí)pues he de decir que normal de sabor y compango,pero me pareció insultante la cantidad,saqué dos fotos,una del antes y otra del después,se puede apreciar que el único cubierto normal es el tenedor,el resto son miniaturas(cuchara cuchillo y vasos)las raciones en las fotos parecen más grandes,pero si comparas con mis manos o el tenedor se ve que es minúscula,a demás de ser un plato Ondo al que no le han llenado,se aprecia q la cuchara toca el fondo,debía tener 10 cucharadas de esa cuchara pequeña contando compango y fin!!!!!. El postre(flan)de km0 me encanta,de cabezón de la sal,pero no es casero y tamaño mini,como los mini de la hermita,volvemos a raciones de niño. Conclusión,precio adecuado si hubiese sido raciones normales,precio muy caro para el tamaño y elaboración del menú y por ser un solo plato,la comida está bien(tampoco son cosas complicadas como digo,macarrones con picadillo y queso,alubias o huevos con patatas y chorizo......no son cosas elaboradas)lo mejor es que los camareros son educados y amables aunq...
