Restaurante Mar de Cortés — Restaurant in Santander

Reading the Google reviews causes some slight trepidation. This is unwarranted. Mar de Cortex is an excellent Mexican restaurant as agreed by my wife who ran a restaurant in Mexico. The seating is limited so reservations may be helpful however since we sat at the bar we were able to eat before the official opening time of 8.30m and got to speak with Maitre D' and bartender Alejandro (on the right in photo, and Mexican chef Gustavo, on the left in photo).

First of all We were not allowed to eat only small plates to share, no we had to order bigger plates . The waiter told us after already sitting down at the table 2nd tacos had a horrible taste meat was obviously of a bad quality and the tortilla was something I've never seen before At the end he kicked us out immediately after paying, even before I could finish to drink my water. La primera vez que fui a este sitio, no nos dejaban sentar si no comíamos platos por separado, nada de compartir. Después de 9 años, volví porque una amiga me dijo que las quesadillas estaban muy bien… Hemos pedido una cerveza y “esa buena quesadilla” por el precio, creí que iba a ser una quesadilla grande con suficiente queso y pollo. Nos llegó una tortilla cruda, doblada a la mitad, con apenas pollo existente y un poco de queso, cubierta de unas salsas cero mexicanas. La verdad me quedé sorprendida por la SEMEJANTE TOMADURA DE PELO. Pedí que me dieran alguna salsa picante, me dieron una salsa de lata, de picante, ¡cero!! El sabor, ¡no entiendo cómo a la gente le puede gustar, cómo pueden opinar que la comida está buenísima, quizás es porque es lo único “mexicano” que han probado y por eso opinan esto…! Este sitio no vale la pena, los precios son desorbitados, el servicio es malísimo. Yo, como buena amante de la comida mexicana, NO VUELVO y no lo recomiendo, no quiero ser parte de una tomadura de pelo.
