Spent a week here in one of the suite rooms. This review reflects our stay in that room, i cannot speak of the regular rooms but the suite was perfect for longer stay, with a separate bedroom and a sliding door that separates it from the small living room. If your partner wants to sleep in, just slip out and slide the door , go out on the terrace and enjoy an amazing view. Rooms To start, these rooms have AC systems that CRANK! that is not typical for Europe so a definite plus! Very clean rooms and daily housekeeping did a great job keeping it that way. Bring plug converters - all plugs are Euro style and NO usb connections in the rooms. The double beds are huge , wider than a USA king but they are firm, as the Europeans like them. Still , not the worst beds we've experienced but not the best either. Pillows could be a bit better. But you will get a good sleep with the excellent blackout curtains and the very cool and quiet environment. There is plenty of closet space and space in general in the suite and a small fridge for snacks and cold drinks. if you want ice you have to get it at the lobby or restaurant but its easy enough. TVs in both rooms but not only Spanish channels and various news channels in English. TVs are OK but older and don't stream so bring a streaming device like a Chromecast or a HDMI cable to connect to your PC. Bathrooms very spacious , they got our seal of approval for the towels and the shower with good pressure and endless hot water. Try to get a balcony room on a higher floor with a view of the Sardinero beach. Might cost a bit more but totally worth it. The hotel is an excellent location , but not for everyone. Its not downtown which was a plus for us but if you want to be in the heart of things then look elsewhere. Chiqui is more of a laid back luxury experience a bit removed but town is just a 8 EUR ride away, forget UBER when you are there. Service was very good other than they had some newbies that clearly were still in training. But everyone was very professional, and courteous. We felt welcomed and appreciated.
OK -even the best can improve... right?! the hotel has a good restaurant downstairs that they will try to sell you a buffet breakfast / brunch for. BUT.. its not open till 11am , not even for coffee and pastries so you have to make your way 100 yds down the street to the Coronna cafe which has very good coffee and decent pastries , and fresh OJ, all at very good prices! But i think an upscale hotel should offer at least coffee in the morning and still don't understand why Chiqui doesn't. For lunch or dinner they have a KILLER hamburger and the little veggie eggrolls are tasty. We also enjoyed the Cod bites.
the pool area is very small with limited seating to the point that they have a reservation system for chairs. Most of the chaises are pretty old and tired with slings that are so stretched out that you end up lying on the support bars - that's really inexcusable for a high end hotel. I'd be embarrassed about these chairs if i was the GM of the hotel There are a few , like 6, padded mats on the floor that are quite comfortable but good luck getting those when the place is busy. The pool is quite small and only about 3 ft deep. And about 1/3 was closed when we were there due to some kind of repair work. Not heated so it was chilly in August, not sure if it ever gets warmer. But despite that, if you can score a decent chair, its VERY relaxing hanging out on the pool deck and you cant beat the view!
Ok thats a mouthful and if you are still with me then you ought to know that I have no problem recommending Chiqui and would go again in...

Read moreI’ve chosen this hotel for the view it had on offer and I must say I wasn’t disappointed. The rooms or at least mine is a decent size I’m not sure why so many people complained about the size of rooms. The room has everything you need, yes a microwave would be nice to have but considering there are so many places where you can go and enjoy the food & area - or just order in via JustEat (thank you to reception ladies for letting me know I can just order In 🙂) - I have no complains. Kettles are easily accessible, just ask for one in the reception. There is no tea and coffee but there is a supermarket around the corner where you can buy some instant coffee sachets for less than 1€, same with a tea. The girls at the reception are exceptional, always kind and with hands on attitude. Location is outstanding if you’re looking for some tranquility with nice landscapes and surrounding nature. While in Santander I’ve had a look around 4* and 5* hotels I’ve initially considered and location wise there aren’t even comparable. I’m so glad I decided to stay here tho it was off season so I can’t comment how it would have been if the hotel was at full capacity, as the only downside is the noice from other rooms. You can pretty much hear everything but during my 3 days stay I only had one neighbour for 1 night and I must say Ive fully heard the conversations they were having. Another downside is lack of non Spanish tv channel, it would have been nice to have 1 or 2 English speaking channels but hey for a 3* I still think it’s exceptional. Thank you to all the hotel staff, I’ve...
