Bistro Noir | Restaurant Cala d'Or — Restaurant in Santanyí

This is one of the many restaurants in the main eating area at Cala d'Or. We spent several lunchtimes here during our stay and is perfect for stopping off for a coffee and something to eat. They have a really good range of snacks and more substantial dishes along with an excellent choice of drinks. I have to say, that as someone who doesn't like bitter or strong coffee, theirs is superb...

The main thing that makes Noir Mallorca stand out above many others is the superb staff who go out of their way to make you feel welcome. They also are very happy to make suggestions should you be unsure of what to order. I wanted to know more about a dish that I'd seen a local man eating as it looked so appetising. The young lady, who speaks four languages!! explained everything and even suggested an addition to make it even tastier. I went with her suggestion and, yep, it was delicious.

It does seem to be more of a daytime restaurant and seemed pretty quiet in the evenings which is a shame as it does serve a fairly comprehensive menu then.

We’ve been coming since they opened and have always really enjoyed the food and atmosphere. Staff have always been friendly. HOWEVER we came for breakfast this year and were extremely disappointed.

Three meals came with freezing cold poached eggs and with items missing. The croque monsieur (which we normally get every year and absolutely loved) was inedible. It arrived without the sauce it is meant to have inside, the cheese on top was not melted and the cheese inside wasn’t melted either. It looked like it had been assembled and hadn’t seen the inside of a grill. After sending it back and asking for a new one, we got the original sandwich back (because there was a bite taken out of it) and it looked exactly the same.

Considering how expensive the menu is for very simple dishes it is a disgrace that the meals weren’t even edible.

It’s a shame because we loved it before but we will not be eating at Noir again and would not...

After looking at their Instagram we were reasonably excited for our meal, however please beware that their page is completely catfish. The portion sizes were small and our meals were extremely overpriced for what we received. Terrible value for money. The food itself… not great - one of us ordered a toastie where the cheese inside was cold as they had just placed a big block inside. The “freshly squeezed orange juice” came out of a bottle… In the “eggs”section of their menu one of the only meals didn't even include eggs which you had to add for 2 euro each… the waitress (who was actually very kind) admitted herself that it was confusing and that she has to explain this to all customers, yet they still haven’t change this on their menu????? Not to mention the music was obnoxiously loud - to the point where we actually asked them to...
