Restaurante Rafael y Flora Nàutic — Restaurant in Santanyí

This is an update to my original review below... today I visited with friends for lunch and can quite honestly say that it was the worst food I have experienced on Mallorca for a long time. I can only guess at what the sauce was, it tasted of powder and appeared to consist of large dollops of tomato sauce accompanied by soggy batter and chewy chicken. It quite frankly made me feel nauseous. The dessert menu is all premade, reheated buy ins. I am not a 'foodie' and enjoy a good basic menu as well as more exciting dishes, but this was inedible, poorly cooked, poorly presented swill.

original review... The summer menu is smaller, more expensive and not so good... I think removing the small dish options, mid day special menu and burgers is a mistake as this leaves only expensive a la carte options for the hottest months. Not the only restaurant to do this when the tourists arrive, and understandable that the heat and busy times are more difficult for the kitchens... But it certainly discourages those that know and enjoy the out of season service from eating...

Best paella in the area? Answer is yes! We were suggested this place by a local from Cala D'or and she was right. They have three options but the option of the house special is the best. The owner is a really friendly man and his waiters are just as nice. Probably by his good example. A nice family run business around the corner of all the fancy places that charge you a lot but can't give you the paella they give you here. Our baby of 11 months got the best high chair we've seen on our trip here. We went back for a second time after we tried another restaurant in this bay but they didn't have a high chair for our baby. Tried some tapas the second time. The patatas bravos and the peppers (Padron I believe) were good. The garlic shrimps weren't that tasty, not marinated but cooked on the spot. Which isn't bad but misses that flavor in the shrimp. But that's my personal preference! Thanks for the great times...

I don't understand how this restaurant has 4,3 stars. The ambiente is really awful, old decorations and fake plants on one side. Its located below two other restaurants with basically no view and beneath old dirty canopys. The food is not extremely awful but its not good either. We also had to wait more than 30 minutes for our food. The waiters are kind tho, some are overly motivated, others not at all. The menu is very big, which is probably also why the food took so long. Sadly, there is not visible theme, the foods are all over the place, many of them seem asian inspired. We had the woks with vegetables and the ingredients were not of a good quality and the sauce was watery. I cant recommend this restaurant, there are plenty of other restaurants...
