if you don't read any further, just know that I'm 20 weeks pregnant and vomited 3x after eating here
Let me start by saying that we enjoyed the Santagloria so much in Madrid that we decided to wake up extra early before our train ride back to walk the 0.6 miles to try this location. The inside looks beautiful and is quite large which made us think this was the real deal.
We should have known something would go wrong after observing the workers for a bit. Unfortunately they seemed very stressed and overwhelmed. The lady at the register must have been having a really bad day and gave the people in front of us a horrible attitude. We were next and had a larger than usual order I guess which she clearly made seem inconvenient and even interrupted us and took people's orders behind us from over our heads while we waited (our order was large because we liked the Madrid location so much we wanted to pack food for our 2.5h train ride back and bring some for my parents too). I waited my turn in line but she made me feel like I did something wrong.
Once the uncomfortable order was done and we sat down, I really should have known things would go wrong when I felt the "fresh" bread we ordered for takeaway and it was as hard as a rock. Then my husband tried his ham croissant sandwich and only parts of it were heated through and still had cold bites. But the worst part and what cost me my last day in Spain was the asparagus and mushroom quiche that I ordered. I'm 20 weeks pregnant and limited in what I can eat in Spain without being able to have ham. My parents ordered this same quiche in the Madrid location various times and enjoyed it. Well this one, like my husband's sandwich, was also not heated through, but we were pressed for time to make it to our train (we really squeezed this visit in to get one last taste of Santagloria) and I ate it. After the discomfort of solely placing our order, I was discouraged from going up to say anything. I should have just thrown it all away and walked out. At least the cappuccinos were good but when I went up to ask for sugar she made a face at me.
Needless to say when I arrived in Madrid and checked into my AirBNB, my last day in Spain turned upside down and I spent the evening vomiting 3x and couldn't stomach anything. I was having cold sweats and obviously very concerned because I'm pregnant. I had a sensitive stomach the whole flight on the following day as well. This experience was very unfortunate and not how I wanted to end my...
Read moreSunshine in a Sip: A Glowing Review of Santagloria Coffee & Bakery, Seville
Nestled in the heart of Seville, Santagloria Coffee & Bakery isn't just a cafe, it's a doorway to Andalusian delight. From the moment you step inside, the aroma of freshly baked bread and citrus sunshine washes over you, setting the stage for a memorable experience.
A Citrusy Symphony: I opted for the freshly squeezed orange juice, and let me tell you, it was a revelation. It wasn't just orange juice; it was a symphony of Seville's sun-kissed essence. Each sip was a burst of tangy sweetness, leaving me refreshed and wanting more. It was clear they used the ripest, juiciest oranges, a true testament to the city's famed citrus pride.
Baked Delights to Tempt the Senses: Beyond the citrus magic, the bakery section beckoned with an array of tempting pastries and breads. I couldn't resist the Ensaimada Mallorquina, a spiral of flaky perfection drizzled with honey. Each bite was a delightful marriage of buttery dough and subtle sweetness, the perfect accompaniment to my coffee.
Coffee Fit for a King: Speaking of coffee, Santagloria offers a variety of roasts and brewing methods to satisfy every palate. I went for a classic latte, and it was smooth, creamy, and perfectly balanced. It was clear they take their coffee seriously, using quality beans and expert brewing techniques.
A Warm Welcome, Andalusian Style: The service at Santagloria was equally delightful. The staff were friendly, attentive, and genuinely seemed to enjoy sharing their love for Seville and its culinary delights. They patiently answered my questions and offered recommendations, making me feel welcome and at ease.
More Than Just a Cafe: Santagloria isn't just a place to grab a quick bite or caffeine fix; it's an experience that immerses you in the spirit of Seville. It's a place to savor the local flavors, soak up the warm atmosphere, and feel the Andalusian sunshine on your skin (even if you're indoors).
A Final Toast: In short, Santagloria Coffee & Bakery is a gem. It's not just a cafe; it's a destination for anyone seeking a taste of Seville's authentic charm and culinary delights. From the citrusy explosion of the orange juice to the baked perfection of the pastries, and the warm hospitality of the staff, everything about Santagloria left me with a smile and a desire to return. So, if you're in Seville, treat yourself to a moment of sunshine at Santagloria. You...
Read moreBeware, the guy at the counter with round glasses is a thief. I have been going here every morning during our visit to Seville and have been ordering the same "coffee+ croissant" . The combo is for Euro 2.40. and every morning I was served by a nice lady, but this morning I was served by this guy (wearing round glasses). First of all he made a watered down version of the coffee, and then he was charging me for 5 croissants + coffee and when I pointed it out, he charged me individually for two croissants and coffee, and when I pointed him to the combo deal, he said something like " I need to order it ahead" and BTW, he did charge me individually ( which comes out to be 2 extra euros). I didn't bother arguing with him anymore as I did not feel it was worth but I will not order from here if I see the same guy at counter again. This is such a bad business practice and should not be encouraged. And for folks visiting, this would leave a bad impression about your...
