I visited The Merchant pub with my partner last night, hoping for a pleasant experience, but unfortunately, it turned out to be quite the opposite.
Upon arriving, we noticed three staff members who appeared disinterested and unwilling to assist us with our order. Despite our efforts, the service was far from welcoming. We eventually ordered two beers, which were notably overpriced.
Given my background as a barman with extensive experience in Ireland, I was excited to explore a local “Irish” pub. However, my enthusiasm quickly waned when I received a pint with an excessive amount of bubbles, resulting in no head on the beer. When I politely requested a properly pulled pint, the staff member became defensive, insisting that this was the standard presentation.
Despite expressing my concerns, the attitude persisted, creating an uncomfortable atmosphere for us and other patrons who witnessed the interaction. Seeking resolution, I asked to speak to a manager, only to be informed that one wasn’t available.
The overall experience left us shocked and disappointed. The combination of overpriced and subpar quality beers, coupled with the discourteous and unprofessional behavior of the staff, reflects poorly on the establishment. It is disheartening to think that such a place represents my country here in Seville.
In summary, our visit to The Merchant was marked by overpriced and poorly pulled beers, along with an atmosphere tainted by the indifferent and rude demeanor of the staff. The absence of effective management only added to the overall negative impression. Regrettably, I would rate this...
Read moreCalled at this place today with my Husband to watch our team we support. Just the two of us. From walking in the door and sitting down the obnoxious rude arrogant apparent Irish owner asked my Husband to be quiet from receiving a Facebook video call from our Son to see if we had found some where to watch football. Of which my Husband then finished his call out of politeness ! And then, to be asked to BE QUIET! By a staff member when our team scored! They are quite happy to take your money and advertise they are showing football but as a paying customer you are also expected to sit and watch a match in silence. The Irish bloke running the place sat at the bar eating food and drinking bottled beer then had friends arrive who were far louder between them than the phone call and the one goal scoring cheer my Husband made! Basically RUDE and UNWELCOMING ! If this bloke has any co owners in this business I recommend you get some one else meeting and greeting!!! Will not recommend...
Read moreAfter decades finding refuge around the globe for a game or a pint or a bit of company a new low as been found in the Merchant Irish bar in Seville. Good Tv's, good pints, but absolutely horrible behaviour by the staff. When coming toward u they scream at you to move out of their way, every time. Even if you make yourselves nice and tidy and squeeze out of the walkway they will deliberately hit off you shouting when they come from behind u. I will not allude to any particular individuals on this forum but in my opinion this is a deliberate approach. The multiple hanging shamrocks unfortunately brings no hospitality. Can only believe some past trauma at play resulting in a concerted approach to terrorising genuine customers. Seville is an amazing place and lovely people but that stops at the door here. I shall refer to myself as a trauma survivor from...
