We are staying in playa blanca but decided to hire a car to venture out and explore the island. We decided to visit puerto del carmen today. There was a lot of variety food wise, however some places weren't open until later on in the day and others seemed quite pricey. We came across banana cafe which offered stunning views and reasonable prices. Ben welcomed us and delivered amazing hospitality, he was friendly and welcoming and despite coming back from his own family holiday 2 hours earlier he still had so much energy and a smile! My husband is recovering from cancer and Ben made a soup from scratch to enable him to eat (as he cannot eat solid foods)... this is the first time my husband has eaten out here on the island and even i was jealous of the gorgeous seafood soup, it was amazing! Between us we ordered a lasagne, pizza, fried and grilled squid along with salad and chips. The food was cooked to perfection 👌. I asked Ben for some chilli sauce and he told me he's made him himself and honestly it was the best and we managed to finish it along with bread and olive oil to dip in. We also ordered banana and strawberry milkshakes which were so nice, cold and fresh with real fruits. If we ever visit again this will be our place to go to, thank you Ben for making our experience a memorable and enjoyable one. Keep up the...
Read moreTLDR RANT This place..... please, by all means, drink here, the cocktails are great, but the food.... a lot forgotten and ran out of ingredients?.... I'm not too sure this place should serve food... we were waiting 2 and a half hours for food to show, and when it did, it was frozen pizzas, uncooked and over cooked garbage. stay away from any sea food here. It wasn't cooked properly or thoroughly..... the owner had an option of a reduction in the bill we were more than happy to pay for good entertaining service"ish" and good drinks but were were fed false lies of "fresh home cooked food" which it was everything but not... Horrible will never see us back , stick to the bar...

Honestly, didn't expect Banana Café to be this good - from the outside, it doesn't look like much, but the food and drinks blew us away. The pizza was incredible - proper flavour, perfect base, and the portion size was spot on.
Cocktails were great too, especially for the price. Everything felt like good value, and the atmosphere was relaxed and chilled, perfect for a laid-back evening. If you're in Puerto del Carmen and want quality food without the tourist-trap vibe, this...
