The brazenness and fraudulent nature of this restaurant left us speechless.
As a starter we ordered the Cadiz salad - the menu said it contained, among other things, figs and orange (both the Spanish menu and the menu in English, which were available online via QR code). When we got the salad, there were no figs and no orange, and there were slices of an apple, which was not listed in the ingredients. We asked the waitress, who looked surprised, so she went back inside to investigate. No one came back to give us an explanation for approx 15 minutes, and we felt perplexed that they wouldn’t get back to us. But then the person (owner?) came back and she showed us that the menu did not list figs and orange as ingredients!!! AFTER OUR COMPLAINT THEY WENT BACK AND CHANGED THE MENUS, BOTH THE SPANISH MENU AND THE ENGLISH ONE, AND DELETED THE INGREDIENTS FIGS AND ORANGE, AND THEN THEY CAME BACK TO US PRETENDING WE HAD BEEN MISTAKEN!!! This is a level of fraudulent behaviour they I had never seen before in my entire life.
We had also ordered (before the salad incident) the catch of the day (grouper, they claim), which was served with potatoes - the entire plate -fish and potatoes- was impregnated in oil, way too greasy for us (we ordered fish cooked in the Owen as a healthy and lean choice).
As if this was not enough, they bring us a bill which contains a “mistake” on the item “bread and service” - instead of being 2euros it was 22euros. We had to get them to correct the mistake. We obviously wondered how many tourists get the same “mistake” in their bills and end up paying without realising it.
Beware you who enter this restaurant!!!
WRITTEN AS A RESPONSE TO YOUR RESPONSE: Yes, I am sure the fish name mix up is due to my friend’s translation mistake, fine. On the salad (Cádiz or whatever else you want to call it) if the menu was old and needed to be updated, then come back to us and explain that and APOLOGISE for having sold us something on the WRONG premises, because the menu was the basis on which we ordered it! Do not come to us to tell us that you were right because the ingredients were never listed in the menu in the first place, pretending it was us who made a mistake - that is the hallmark of DISHONEST BEHAVIOUR!!!!
And on the wrong bill, yes “mistakes” happen, but we did not received a single word of apologies for having sold us a wrong salad or an incorrect bill. I don’t need to be king my friend, I just need to be with honest and...
Read moreBurger was a massive bunn with a bland meatball inside covering 1/3 of the bread. Patatas bravas, a pride of the restaurant it seems, were tasty but It was just 8 potato balls in sauce, nothing special, especially for 12€. There could be a bit more wine in the glass. Until the thickest point of it maybe. Tuna dishes and croquettes were adequate, not to die for. We weren't alone in the restaurant so I can excuse a bit slower service, but as everyone got their food at different times it felt far away from the high end place they want to appear as. After everyone but one had already finished we cancelled the order for the last dish, that we've been waiting for quite a long time, as the person waiting for it lost their appetite. In the end we had to wait again to pay and after one part paid their share the rest was abandoned and eventually decided to chase the staff and walk inside to pay. The cancelled plate was still counted on the bill and the amount reset forgetting about the first part being already paid, but we managed to fix that. Good we spoke Spanish as English is not...
Y cuenta...
