Restaurante Yiyuan — Restaurant in Tarifa

Was in Tarifa for one night before I took the ferry to Morocco in the morning and walked by this restaurant and it was open so I thought I'd give it a try. I'm from the US, have lived in China (Beijing) and I have tried some of the best and worst Chinese food in the world with this restaurant being close to the worst tasting and quality I've had in 41 years. The funny thing about this restaurant is that the people working in the restaurant are in fact Chinese but don't have the slightest clue how to prepare and cook Chinese food. The food that was brought to me was days old chicken soaked in soy sauce with cheap days old vegetables (thinly sliced carrots and onions). You'd think they could be a bit more creative and add 2-3 other types of vegetables but in reality everyone from the cook to the server obviously could care less about the service and food presentation and quality and that shows by the dishes they serve. This restaurant, their cooks, staff etc. don't have the slightest clue how to prepare and cook Chinese food and it's amazing that a place with such poor tasting/quality food can even stay in business. Don't waste your time and money here and I've lived in China and had some of the best Chinese food in the United States as well. Total fail for a restaurant that could care less about their customers opinions on their food quality and service. If I could give zero stars, I would. We walked into this Chinese restaurant in Tarifa expecting a decent meal, but instead, we were met with the rudest service I’ve ever experienced. An older Chinese lady with glasses was serving, and from the moment we stepped in, she made it clear she had no interest in serving us.

She was dismissive, rude, and completely unbothered by the fact that we were there to eat. After waiting and trying to order multiple times, she simply refused to serve us any food—without explanation! We had no choice but to walk out, completely baffled by the treatment we received.

I’ve traveled a lot, and I understand that bad days happen, but this level of hostility was shocking. Save yourself the trouble and go anywhere else in Tarifa—there are plenty of amazing places that actually want customers. Avoid this place unless you enjoy being treated like an...

It’s a classic Chinese joint. The interior is ordered from AliExpress. But that’s fine.

The food was below mediocre. The prices are relatively affordable but it reflects in the results. My sweet and sour chicken tasted strange so in regard to my health I didn’t touch it and returned it. I was charged for it nevertheless.

The service was slightly rude and eye-contact avoiding. No hello, no thanks in return - they felt like robots, not human. Of course robots would have spoken at least a word in English.

Basically I felt not welcome and almost swallowed some meat that tasted weird to say the least.
