La Tahona de la Carihuela — Restaurant in Torremolinos

Served raw chicken - avoid at all costs. At first glance this restaurant looked busy so we decided to eat here, I ordered the chicken shish kebab. The fact it arrived in less than 10 minutes should have been the first warning sign.

Ate the fries and the salad, no problems so far. But, after biting into the first bit of chicken, I commented to my partner that the texture was off, seemed overcooked and rubbery. It was only when I cut into the next bit and was shocked to discover it was completely raw in the middle (see picture).

I proceeded to cut into all the remaining bits and they were all raw too. We made the waiter aware when he came to collect the plates, and he dismissed my comment that the chicken was raw. No apology, no acknowledgment, nothing - just took the plates away.

We asked for the bill at the same time, and had to ask a different waiter 15 minutes later as it never arrived. We appreciated that they seemed very busy, so could have been a genuine mistake, but after the raw chicken it didn’t help appease our poor experience here.

When the bill arrived we had also been charged for the food, but as it was only €29 for the whole meal we decided against asking for it to be taken off the bill and simply paid and walked off as fast as we could. Moral of the story, you get what you pay for - with a side...

To clarify, this is for the Italian part of this restaurant, which doesn't even show up on google maps. If I could take off stars I would!

Firstly, with all the love in the world, this "italian" restaurant has nothing in common with italy - which was quite obvious by the pineapple pizza on the menu and the carbonara pasta with cream. Overall a terrible experience, the pizza was hardly edible, with the base of it being more a ciabatta than an actual pizza dough. One of our guests ordered carbonara, and we specifically asked for there to be no cream added; the cheap bacon however was swimming in cream on the plate.

The service was also fairly bad and we had to wait for quite a while for some very basic dishes - it took a good 20 minutes inbetween the first person at the table getting their main and the last one getting theirs. In addition to this, we had a little one with us and each waiter kept rubbing the child's head, over and over again, whenever they passed our table. I understand they were probably trying to be nice, however, it was unwanted and unwarranted touching, which irritated all of us,...

Food in here is amazing, but unfortunately we had poor experience with the service. We have 2 visits to the restaurant as we loved the food, but the second time, we noticed that there were few things added to our bill. As the waiter was speaking English quite well during the time he service us, whenever we questioned the extra items on the bill, he suddenly forgot the English language and only spoke Spanish. Eventually agree that there were few bits added, and said that there will be solution to the problems but suddenly disappeared. Another person then appears and partly refund us for the extra added to our bill, but still not made it right. We just gave up to argue and walk out. If the service was right, I would give 5 starts and would come back in there for the food, but as I am not sure what I will be charged for, I will give a miss to my next visit and will go...
