Had an awful experience- as a young tourist in a new country, I was exploring the town and desperately needed to use the toilet
The first restaurant I came across was this one. I walked in and saw the toilet to my immediate right. i ran in and before I could close the door I was confronted by a lady who firmly put her hand on the door and would not let me close it.
I begged her, told her I was desperate- she kept saying 'nono just for restaurant '
I told her I would pay for drink but she wasn't listening to me. I said this several times. Then she finally understood me and made me come put to pay before using the toilet.
At this point, it was trickling down my leg (i had to force myself to try and hold what I can) - Lucky I waa wearing black
I went out paid for drink and ran back in.
I came out after and tried to ask to speak to the manager- to my surprise, the manager was the same woman and nobody seemed to speak english.
Then another lady came and started shouting at me that 'you pay before you use'
And I pointed at the drink on the counter saying I did pay- she just kept repeating herself.
I left (without the drink). I have since been informed that actually there isa law in Spain that says you cannot deny someone the toilet in establishment
So not only did I pay for something I did not want, I was ridiculed and bullied for no apparent reason.
At this point, I don't want to play the race card.......but what else am I...
