Boston Tavern — Restaurant in Torrevieja

The food was absolutely fantastic — beautifully made and delicious. Even the kids enjoyed every bite. Drinks were excellent too; my mojito was spot-on… until they ran out of mint, which meant it was my first and last mojito of the night.

The space inside is quite small and there’s no air conditioning, which made it a bit uncomfortable. One of the waiters didn’t say a single word at our table and seemed less than thrilled to be there.

The biggest disappointment was when I asked if I could buy two of the glasses we were served in — I collect glasses and would have gladly paid a good price. In most bars, this is met with either a reasonable offer (~5 EUR) or a friendly “sure, take them” as a goodwill gesture. Instead, the waiter laughed, and two other staff members sitting nearby shook their heads and laughed as if I had just asked for their firstborn. It was awkward, unprofessional, and made us feel unwelcome.

Such a shame — they could have made an easy profit on the glasses and earned a loyal customer. Instead, they lost goodwill faster than they ran...

On arriving back in Torrevieja we went to one of our go to restaurants The Boston Tavern. First thing we noticed was the serving staff were all new. The place wasn’t very busy (3 couples in total ,dining) We had to wait an age to order drinks and food. Eventually we got our drinks but the waiter had forgotten what type of meat I had ordered. The food when we eventually got it was very good. Pity it took so long. Thinking this was just a glitch in the service we returned with friends 5 days later and were served by the same young man as previously. When he eventually Took our order he forgot to bring it to us our drinks. We then asked for the bill and he brought someone else’s bill. So disappointed the service at this establishment has fallen to such a low standard. We won’t be in any...

Sorry, seen some of the recent good reviews but this wasn't our experience for lunch and we've been coming here for over a decade. Hot glasses brought to us by waiters - unforgivable. Shrugging your shoulders when it's pointed out is terrible. Food average at best. Gambas Al Ajillo overcooked but in a spicy tomato sauce. Really ? Cheese & crispy bacon fries with undercooked and fatty bacon. No garlic on garlic bread. The original Boston Tavern was great with flamenco and staff who were only to happy to help. The move to new premises a few metres away and presumably change in ownership have relegated it to 3rd tier at best. By the way, you can't see the beach from the Boston Tavern....
