Restaurante El Italiano — Restaurant in Torrevieja

We've been dining at El Italiano every year when we holiday in La Mata, which is quite a few years now. The food has always been good and the service great (if you get the male server) However our latest visit, first one this year, was awful. I'm not sure if they have changed the chef but the food, which we've ordered before on previous occasions, was not good. My husband ordered the beef fillet strips in a mushroom sauce & tagliatelle €28.90 watery sauce with 3 slithers of steak - a joke for nearly 30 euros! To make matters worse, the female waitress was not very friendly. She never came back to check on our food, or once clearing plates never offered dessert menu or coffee - this has never happened before (although we do normally have the guy waiter who is very attentive and helpful) We felt very unwelcome so paid the bill and left. Lovely restaurant and the food was good they just needed a couple more waiting on staff.

They were turning people away even though there were empty tables because the staff couldn't keep up.

Our food when it came eventually after about an hour wait was really good. Such a shame given the amazing location. With some proper management and extra staff they could have turned our table in half the time and served another family. Multiply that by 15-20 tables they have and they would more than pay for the additional staff during peak...

Hoy he ido a cenar a este restaurante, al que llevo acudiendo más de 14 años y donde siempre he comido bien y he recibido un buen trato.

Lamentablemente, la experiencia de hoy con mi familia ha sido muy decepcionante, principalmente por el servicio de una camarera en concreto (una chica morena con gafas), cuya actitud ha sido totalmente inadecuada.

Hemos sido pacientes y respetuosos en todo momento, pero el servicio ha resultado inaceptable: más de 35 minutos de espera para un entrante frío, 15 minutos para que nos tomaran nota de las bebidas (cuando el local no estaba lleno), y aun así la bebida llegó equivocada, por lo que tuve que volver a pedirla y esperar otra vez. El carpaccio tardó unos 30 -40 minutos, y la excusa fue que “se había ido un poco la luz y no habían podido cocinar”… cuando precisamente se trata de un plato frío, nos contestó súper borde

Pedimos hielos hasta en tres ocasiones, ya que el agua se había calentado, y no fue hasta la cuarta vez —con evidente mala gana— que nos los trajo. La cuenta también tuvimos que solicitarla a otro camarero, ya que ella no la trajo después de pedírsela hace minutos , y después de pedir el datáfono tuvimos que esperar otros 16 minutos, sin que en ningún momento se nos dirigiera la palabra y con una actitud claramente maleducada y recordarlo otra vez

Es una auténtica pena que, después de tantos años valorando este sitio, la mala atención de una sola persona y la mala actitud pueda arruinar una experiencia y empañar la imagen del restaurante. Sobretodo cuando estaba mirando y...
