Popa Tapes i Begudes — Restaurant in Tossa de Mar

Made the reservation a week ago, and really happy with the seat/table we got.

We had calamari, mejillones, pan con tomate and fish of the day, all to share. The portion was small, and for me the taste is standard.

The services in general is also ok, but I would like to raise the experience from customer’s perspective: we were eating the calamari and there were some fish left in the plate too, some has food in their small plates and some don’t, one of the wait staff came and wanted to take the dirty/finished plates and water glasses, and despite there were still food on the table and water in the glass, the staff still tried to do so until we mentioned that we weren’t finished yet. Second time, most of plates were empty, and I just got last piece of the fish on my small plate, and same staff came again to clean, and once again, despite I had food in my mouth and piece of fish on my plate, staff wanted to take my dish….we have to tell the staff no. I understand the table we were sitting is valuable for other customers, but there weren’t really dinning time for each table, and we were there from 1pm to 2:40pm (from ordering to walked out of the restaurant). I visited Restaurant Popa in Tossa de Mar twice during my stay – and that’s something I always do when I really like a place 😋

🔹 First visit: I ordered the fried eggplant with honey 🍆🍯 – absolutely delicious (I’m a total eggplant lover 😍). The fried small fish 🐠 was okay, and the Padron peppers 🫑 were also really tasty. The service was very good and friendly 🙏 Thank you!

🔹 Second visit: It started a bit confusing 🤯 – the fried eggplant was almost burned and I could taste mostly the coating flour, not the eggplant itself, which was a bit disappointing. But then came the main dish: grilled octopus with grilled vegetables 🐙🥕 – OMG 😍 It was perfect! The taste and texture were spot-on, and the attention to detail (like the crystal salt) made it unforgettable 👌

For dessert 🍮, I had something like a meringue base with cheese, cream, and berries – surprisingly delicious! It even gave a little kick to my tongue 👅😅 – maybe black pepper or ginger? Whatever it was, it worked!

Bastante desilusionado. Muy buena valoracion pero puramente sobrevalorado. Ni la cocina es buenisima, ni el sitio ni el servicio. La verdad que os recomiendo que busqueis otro sitio, ya que 30 euros por cabeza (sin postres ni vino) para salir y quedarse con hambre…. Pues tu diras🤷‍♂️ Muy decepcionado por haber pedido unos fingers de pollo de 15 euros y que te vengan 3 unidades (pequeños y no muy buenos!!!!!😮‍💨😮‍💨). Enfin, hay sitios mejores por la zona donde no pagues tanto el turisteo :)

PD2: aprovecho para contestar al dueño. En ningun momento le di la mano ni le dije que me habia gustado, ya que no era asi. Que mi padre decidiera ser educado y decirte que todo bien, es posible, pero por mi parte, imposible, ya que como insisto, es un sitio que da pena. Si no te digo nada es justamente por educacion. Veo, despues de tu respuesta, que no sabes recibir criticas, sino simplemente faltar el respeto llamandome falso y que voy por la espalda. Si se puede poner reseñas es justamente para esto, para poder opinar libremente. Si no sabes gestionarlo, deja el negocio. Lo dicho, excesivamente caro. La foto es mas que digna, lo extra eran 3 patatas mal hechas, asi que poca “manipulacion” hay. Ademas, pedí fingers, no patatas. Dicho esto, es importante que aprendas a llevar criticas, ya que estas lejos de ser un buen restaurante. Ahora si que insisto, no vayais. Ya habeis visto como es el dueño. En vez de intentar mejorar, simplemente te llama falso y manipulador.

PD3: vuelvo a contestar porque me niego a asumir la cantidad de mentiras de este local. Basta de mentiras, señoro. No te dimos la mano en ningun momento y NI SIQUIERA HICIMOS RESERVA! De veras, que desastre de persona. Centraos en hacer bien la comida. Una vez mas, aprende a recibir criticas. No es un fraude, me cobrasteis 15 euros por 3 fingers. Pagamos mucho por cabeza para salir de alli con hambre. No pretendo hacer daño a nadie ni mucho menos mentir. Solo escribo mi opinion (que para eso estan las reviews) sobre tu garito. No miento. No me gustó. No te lo dije a la cara, una vez mas, por respeto. Aunque veo que no te merecias ninguno. No eres más que un mentiroso que para anular una critica justa decide llamarme fraude y mentiroso. Basta señoro, basta. Haga las raciones más grandes, baje precios o asuma su valoración. Nunca me había encontrado con un sitio así. Estoy flipando de que alguien con la mentalidad de un chico de dos años esté al mando del local😔 He bajado la valoración del servicio debido a esto. Los camareros que nos atendieron no eran tan malos como la persona que (debido a la poca gente que deben tener comiendo) se dedica a faltarme el respeto por aquí. Céntrese en mejorar y de verdad, deje de faltarme el respeto. Madure, señoro, que da usted mucha pena! Oficialmente mi última actualización. Ya no leeré más a este payasete aburrido.
