Read moreTossa, The Place itself Tossa is a seaside resort on the Costa Brava. It has largely retained its own character. Little construction is allowed and certainly no high-rise buildings. In the summer it can be very busy with people for the day and with local people on the weekends.
Furthermore, Tossa is characterized by the castle of Tossa de Mar. The city was also walled, which have largely been beautifully restored. You can also walk on parts of the walls.
You can walk up which is relative easy to do. If you have difficulty with walking, you can take a train up. At the top of the lighthouse you can get out and enjoy the beautiful view or have a drink or bite. You can take any train back down.
Would you like to eat something? There are plenty of restaurants in the village itself or on the beachside. Of course, tastes and preferences differ. But something for everyone. And don't forget to drop into a nice little bar when you walk through the small streets/alleys. And in the summer there are 'beach bars' for a simple but...
Read moreBeautiful beach destination north of Barcelona. A 60min car drive away, the drive is scenic with the ocean in view for a large portion of it. The town is quaint, a few shops, restaurants and a tiny plaza. You don't need more than an hour to see around unless you plan spending time on shopping. Nothing notable.
The beach is a very good one. A fairly long promenade full on restaurants facing the beach, it ends at the foot of a tower (not sure but guess built by Romans.) It's a nice 30 min easy trail up and down. Few notable things to see are a ruins of a church, the watch tower and the lighthouse. The views from the top are splendid.
The beach at this time isn't too crowded. Unlucky for me, the weather was not the best. A sunny day you should find the beach filled with families.
Good place for families, few activities- kayaking, snorkeling, diving and decent seafood. Make sure you book a restaurant for lunch or dinner as soon as you arrive to avoid long waits (for the good...
