This review is long overdue because it was the highlight of my trip to Valencia back in February. For tapas I had a taste of both the anchovies in vinegar and the squid. The anchovies were lovely and salty with perfect acidity from the vinegar. The squid was huge and came both with regular squid rings and what could be described as crispy squid tentacles. Then I shared the paella de marisco. This is the best food Valencia has to offer. Comes with whole prawns and languistines, and the rice was done perfectly, as you would expect from a paella. Then for dessert I had some natillas and tiramisu. Gifts from the gods, perfectly light desserts to finish the meal. But the highlight of eating here was actually the waiter we had. He spoke no English but was so happy to communicate with us with the Spanish we had. Many other restaurants were so quick to offer English menus or get other waiters who speak English. He also made sure my Dad got lots of beer! Hopefully his presence is appreciated by the other staff as we did. Between him and the outstanding food we had I have no doubt that this was among the best meals I have ever had. Absolutely recommend to anyone visiting the beach.

I don’t know how to explain this properly but only that we’ve been here twice in a month and the experience is always great. We were looking for one of the most reviewed paella place in the city (due to our lack of paella experience) and the reviews did not disappoint. The restaurant is easily accessible, by the beach tables with shade and sunny side options, toilets are clean, the servers can speak in either spanish or english whichever you prefer. And the best part is that their recommended dish (calamar a la plancha) is a REAL WINNER! Would have it any day. Ü I’ll post photos next from today’s visit and do an update from the first time we went! Oh and for the paella, the best in Valencia for me is in El Palma to eat by the rice fields itself but it’s quite far.. so if you need a paella valenciana fix (please order the one with chicken and rabbit and garrafón) in the city and have a good time at Cabanyal beach in the sun, this is an equally good one. :)

I liked the atmosphere of this place as well as a few other restaurants at the beach promenade. Good seating and heavy tables indoor or at the opened beach terrace. It is just so nice to sit down and have a lunch when the sun is shining onto your cheeks and the wind plays with your hair. Other than that, we ordered a Valencian paella which was delicious. Fresh orange juice was great as well. I would say that all of the food was fairly priced. The service was quick. The only imperfection was that there was a man next to the restaurant playing a flute, when he finished he went table by table and begged for money, which felt inappropriate to me and quite intrusive. I don't know whether the restaurant staff can actually prevent that anyhow but they could at least see him off as soon as he came to the first customers. I mean, the man could have just waited in front of the restaurant, if the customers wanted they could have given him money when leaving or so...

We had an amazing dinner with lovely Gabriel attending to us and looking after us! Firstly , we came and been given table at the back of restaurant . As we made a booking we asked for a table with better view- such as beach and sea side view and nothing was problem for this lovely restaurant! The lady supervisor rearrange the table right away! It was great experience , paella was tasty and all food was fresh, warm and mouthwatering. I also loved salads which we ordered! I enjoyed them so much ! Gabriel has made our experience extra special with offering us some advice in regard to menu and compulsory shots! Gabriel went the extra mile for us! He is the best waiter and I think he should get a pay-raise ! ☺️☺️☺️☺️ Only what I would critique is the lack of music - I would definitely prefer to have my dinner with a lovely Spanish music in background. It sets the scene and makes the whole experience more special. Other than this all good ! 😍 Keep it up

The service treated us like family. The food was amazing. I ate these roasted potatoes with a creamy garlic sauce that absolutely soaked my tastebuds. The Paella Valeciana (chicken and rabbit) was perfection. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough! And I haven't even mentioned the Sangria or coffee. The sangria was the perfect refreshment. I normally down 4 glasses of water with dinner (wine is too sweet or dry, normally, to quench thirst or aid in digestion). Not this sangria. Just sweet enough to call you to imbibe and light enough to help you along with the meal. Of course, it'll never be as healthy as water, but I'm on vacation!!! I did mention the coffee, didn't I. Our hosts recommended we try a popular local drink: a cremita. I can't tell you how to make it, but there was a shot of expires and 2 of black rum! I know there's more to it than that... But WOW. EL TROMPO trumped our trip to Valencia. Done miss it next time you're there.

El Trompo, located on the sun-kissed shores of Valencia's Paseo Maritimo de la Malvarrosa, captured my heart with its authentic Mediterranean charm. As I savored their exquisite paella, each grain of rice was perfectly infused with the essence of the sea. The seafood selection, so fresh it might as well have leaped from the ocean onto my plate, was cooked to perfection. It wasn't just the food that made my experience unforgettable, but the service, especially from Elena, was exceptional. She attended to us with such care and attention that we felt like honored guests at a private banquet. Her recommendations were impeccable, and her bright personality added a special touch to our already delightful evening. El Trompo is more than just a restaurant; it’s a destination that offers a slice of the Mediterranean soul. My advice? Go for the food, stay for the hospitality, and leave with memories that will beckon you to return.
