Frankie’s Bar Review: A Masterclass in Incompetence

Came for the steak deal on a Wednesday, left with the worst dining experience of my life.

Upon being seated, a gentleman named Dennis/Denis took our order, which we promptly gave him. We asked for peppercorn sauce with the steaks, to which he said he would go and check. He then vanished without a trace. A few minutes later, his female colleague arrived asking to take our order. Confused, we told her we had already given our order to her male colleague. She left without another word.

We then proceeded to wait for an agonizing 50 minutes before someone finally approached us, asking if we’d had our order taken. Dennis/Denis had the gall to blame me for the miscommunication, snapping, “Well, do you want the order or will we just argue?”

Despite my strong urge to leave, hunger forced us to stay. Our order arrived 15 minutes later—over an hour since we first sat down.

The peppercorn sauce, meant for both my friend and me, arrived in a pot on my friend's plate. When I asked the female staff member about my portion, she curtly replied, “That’s for both of you, it’s just two portions in a big pot.” Why on earth would they place it on one plate rather than in the middle, as any sensible restaurant would? Instead, I received a passive-aggressive remark about what should have been “clear.”

After the meal, my friend ordered dessert with the female staff member. I was completely ignored and not asked if I wanted dessert at all.

Frankie’s Bar might be a cheap and cheerful place serving food, but that’s no excuse for the sheer incompetence, rudeness, and bizarre presentation of delayed food I endured. I will never return. There are far nicer places in and around Vera. I highly recommend Maktub, where the staff are pleasant, the food is high quality, orders are taken correctly, and the service is prompt. Avoid Frankie’s Bar...

Lovely front of house waitress Marie, we arrived 6.30pm without a reservation and although it was a steak offer night, but not for us, we were accommodated with a table and drinks ordered. Should have passed and gone elsewhere...gammon steak..? Was a grey/brown color that seemed to have been bathed in water, the chips were horrible tasting of oil...hubby ordered ribs...this came as a pile of individual ribs with chips and salad...so sorry to say the worst food I have been presented with...Marie you were busy and so attentive to the patrons but the...

Sitting here now enjoying our cold drinks and finishing off our food which were both delicious, good size portions, I had the Tikka chicken wrap with salad which I enjoyed , highly recommend Frankies bar, have been here few years ago and enjoyed food then so will certainly be back . Didn’t have to wait...
