Pizzeria Espai de la Carme — Restaurant in Vilanova i la Geltrú

Similar to all the other reviews we really loved this restaurant which serves mostly Italian style cuisine but with a twist. There is a warm welcome from the moment you arrive and the atmosphere is cosy but not cramped, with a great buzz of conversation and familiarity. It seems to be frequented by regulars and so booking is advised. As a lover of risotto I had to try the house special of the risotto d'Espai and it was truly delicious. Even my wife loved it and she doesn't normally like risotto. She ended up eating half of mine and so we had to order another! Unfortunately due to some confusion with our order they brought the mushroom version, which wasn't their fault, but whilst it was still delicious it didn't quite live up to the parmesan special! We were a group of seven and so we had a mix of dishes and all were spectacular. A couple of friends chose pizza and they were huge and looked very tasty. Apparently the spicy salad was to die for and the spicy fish was also highly recommended although it took about 20 minutes longer than all the other dishes to arrive - something they should perhaps mention on their menu. Worth waiting for though. Desserts were also delicious. In all a restaurant to be highly recommended and one we shall surely be visiting regularly, especially as the prices seemed very reasonable relative to...

Soy alérgica a los frutos secos, tengo una alergia grave. Hago anafilaxias. Y una alergia puede matarte.

Ya he ido algunas veces a este restaurante pero voy a contar la mala experiencia que tuve las últimas dos ocasiones simplemente para que sirva de crítica constructiva y se solucione este problema, que a día de hoy no debería existir y que es muy grave.

1. En Agosto 2023 pedimos pizzas a domicilio, entre ellas algunas con nueces, yo SIEMPRE aviso de la gravedad de mi alergia y comento el tema de la alergia cruzada y que por favor, hagan mi pizza primero, no usen los mismos utensilios, se laven las manos, etc.

Resulta, que llegan las pizzas, y me dio la alergia. Por suerte lo detecté rápido y llevo conmigo medicación. Llamamos y con disculpas y una botella de vino muy amables, me trajeron otra pizza sin coste alguno. No hay queja de esa vez, ya que fueron educados y reconocieron el error. No quise comentar nada negativo porque entiendo que un error es de ser humanos.

2. Ayer mismo, fui presencialmente a cenar con un grupo. Exactamente lo mismo: pedí pizza, otros pidieron pizzas con nueces. Comento lo de mi alergia, que por favor hagan la pizza primero, etc... No me traen la pizza primero, de hecho llegan varias antes y entre ellas las que llevan nueces. Resulta que pego el primer mordisco y espero (porque ya tengo una mala experiencia) y bajo mi sorpresa veo que me empieza a dar otro brote de alergia. Muy preocupada, lo comento con el camarero diciéndole que no me iba a comer esa pizza y las razones, y el camarero me responde con cara de 'bueno si tu lo dices', no se disculpa y me dice que si 'quiero un risotto que eso no lleva bichos'. Muy fuerte me parece que se trate el tema de las alergias de ese modo. Ni una triste disculpa. Ni un '¿Estás bien?'.

Podría denunciar, pero no quiero hacerlo.

Hago anafilaxias. Y suerte que soy 'experta' en conocer mi cuerpo después de algunos sustos, además soy enfermera, y sé conocer mis signos de alarma, y cómo actuar. Una anafilaxia es algo MUY GRAVE.

Escribo este comentario para básicamente, quede constancia de este problema. Las alergias son un tema muy delicado y cualquier error o mala praxis, puede significar la muerte de la persona y no estoy exagerando. Hablo por experiencia y con conocimiento de causa.

Considero que no tener un protocolo en un restaurante de este nivel para las alergias es un error muy grave. Escribo esto para que por favor, se tenga en cuenta y se de una solución a los clientes con intolerancias o alergias. Una solución segura.

Por suerte todo quedó en un susto, y por suerte yo misma detecto el problema muy rápido ya que mi alergia es potencialmente mortal y se desarrolla inmediatamente. Pero hay veces que el cuerpo reacciona de una manera inesperada, porque son alergias, y no hay forma de poder solucionar la situación en un corto plazo de tiempo.

Es un tema peligroso con el que hay que tener mucho...

Food is good, some traditional dishes... But we went there for a birthday event. They charged us 7 menus instead of 6. Close than 25€ mistake. For a high end restaurant like this, we could expect them to note properly what is served... fortunately, one of us found out ultimately, just before we left. They just said "ah yes, you're right". Printed the new ticket and that's all... They did not even offer a coffee or something for the mistake... while we let around 300€. I don't believe they did it on purpose, we did not expect many things, a mistake could have happened... but we would have appreciated, for a great restaurant, that they would at minimum offer sincere...
