Anjappar Chettinad Authentic Indian Restaurant – A Flavorful Journey with Exceptional Service
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Anjappar Chettinad Authentic Indian Restaurant in Sri Lanka, and it truly exceeded all expectations. Known for serving genuine Chettinad cuisine, this place is a treasure for anyone who loves bold, traditional Indian flavors, and their service only adds to the experience.
I opted for the Anjappar Special Thali, and I must say, it was the best thali I’ve ever tasted. The variety of dishes served in the thali was astounding, and each one was packed with authentic flavors. The curries, chutneys, and rice were perfectly cooked and complemented each other beautifully. From the spiced vegetables to the rich gravies, every bite took me deeper into the essence of Chettinad cuisine. It’s clear that a lot of care and skill goes into each dish, making it a truly memorable meal.
To pair with the thali, I ordered a Mango Lassi, which was absolutely delightful. Thick, creamy, and refreshing, the lassi had just the right sweetness and consistency, making it the perfect drink to balance the spicier dishes. It was one of the best lassis I've had, with the mango flavor shining through in every sip.
Additionally, I tried their Chilli Paneer and Garlic Chicken Fry, both of which were outstanding. The Chilli Paneer had the ideal mix of heat and tang, with perfectly cooked, soft paneer cubes in a delicious sauce. The Garlic Chicken Fry was equally impressive, with the chicken crispy on the outside and tender inside, infused with the perfect amount of garlic. Both dishes had incredible depth of flavor, making them a fantastic accompaniment to the meal.
But it wasn’t just the food that impressed me – the service at Anjappar was truly superb. The staff was incredibly attentive, welcoming, and efficient. From the moment I stepped in, I felt taken care of. They provided thoughtful recommendations and were quick to ensure that everything was to my liking. The dishes were served promptly, and the attention to detail in their service was evident throughout. The team clearly takes pride in what they do, which made the dining experience even more enjoyable.
The ambiance was warm and cozy, and combined with the exceptional service, it created a relaxing environment to enjoy the meal. The staff’s genuine hospitality and their deep knowledge of the menu elevated the overall experience, making me feel both comfortable and well-cared for.
In summary, Anjappar Chettinad Authentic Indian Restaurant is a top-tier dining destination in Sri Lanka, offering a perfect blend of authentic flavors and outstanding service. From the delectable Anjappar Special Thali to the excellent side dishes and refreshing Mango Lassi, every aspect of the meal was executed to perfection. With their superb service, this restaurant has quickly become one of my favorites, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for an unforgettable Chettinad...

Read moreSuch a breath of fresh air in terms of Indian Cusine in Colombo! It is authentically Indian as the whole team of chefs have been brought downn from India and the beauty of it is, you have a specific chef for a specific range of food! There is no Jack of all trades here. So because each variety gets its own genius care the taste of the food is impeccable. I ordered the Anjappar Mutton biriyani and the anjappar chicken curry and then panneer butter masala. While the latter two were delicious they were just as good as you would find in any good Indian restaurant. But the Biriyani ! Oh that was on a whole another level! The whiff of the smell of all the amazing spices, the perfectly cooked tender and succulent mutton pieces and the beautifully cooked rice which had soaked all the muttony goodness! Oh and the rice they use is seeraga samba and not basmati as it is the norm in Tamil nadu style biriyanis. I would go there again and again! And if you are thinking Oh i am not so sure, just go and try the biriyani and you will be going back for more! The prices are reasonable as the portion sizes do it justice by it. The staff, the head chef and the owner were very welcoming and friendly and service was good overall. The only downside is that the restaurant is too big and too bland. Oh I think they deserve the title of "Best...
