Embarking on a culinary journey at Garlic Mirissa was like setting sail on a sea of flavors, encountering both sunlit positives and unforeseen storm clouds.
The Prawns Salad with Kumara Chips was a dazzling start, a symphony of tastes that danced on the taste buds like a well-rehearsed ballet. It was as if the chef had composed a culinary masterpiece on a plate.
To ward off the tiny pirates of the evening, mosquito coils were valiantly burning, and a spray was at the ready – a thoughtful touch that spoke volumes about the restaurant's commitment to the diners' comfort.
However, the voyage took an unexpected turn with the Prawn Kottu. The prawns, once vibrant protagonists, seemed to have lost their flavor plot and were caught in the overcooked doldrums, leaving a taste that didn't quite hit the high notes.
The Mojito, alas, failed to be the refreshing breeze we anticipated, landing somewhere in the realm of mediocrity. It was as if the mixologist had lost the treasure map to the perfect concoction.
Navigating the menu seas, a disappointing revelation struck like a sudden squall – Tuna, a hoped-for delight, was missing in action. A prior notice on the menu would have been a courteous anchor, preventing the disappointment from setting sail.
The service crew, akin to friendly sailors, steered the ship with pleasant demeanor but at a pace that seemed to defy the laws of culinary time. With only three other patrons aboard, the ship's speed left room for improvement.
As we sailed further into the evening, the choice of music provided a tempestuous backdrop – interesting but thunderously loud for the early hour. It was like having a rock concert when one expected a serene sunset serenade.
In conclusion, Garlic Mirissa is a ship with a crew that knows the waters but needs to fine-tune its navigation. While some dishes shine as beacons of culinary delight, others navigate the seas of mediocrity. A journey with promise, yet one that calls for a few adjustments on the...
Read moreGreat service, fast, with a full seat - 20 minutes wait. There is often a queue in the evening.
The dishes are varied - fish, burger, salads, soups, local cuisine. Always fresh ingredients, interesting flavor combinations, large portions.
⭐️ Favorite dishes: Tom yum is unbeatable, I can eat it every day. The spice is optional. Sweet onion calamari with milkrice. Srilankan Style mullet fish coconut curry with cumin rice mango chutyney. Green salad - simple but interesting thanks to the sauce. Yellowfin tuna steak. Tuna tartare. Crispy mushroom - delicious, but it gave me heartburn. Mango lassi 🧡 Passion fruit juice.
❗️ Sometimes they forget to bring the sauce, remind them if necessary 😉
Quiet place with a comfortable atmosphere. During the year, they improved the interior, added new dishes and raised prices.
💲Two dishes + two drinks - about 7000-8000 rupees.
This is definitely the best place in Mirissa. I will certainly...
Read moreWe have a great meal here last night. After a few more "international" restaurants we decided to go somewhere a little more local.
Garlic Mirissa isnt the flashist vibe but it's tidy, outside dining. Most importantly the service is great and the food is top notch. The Tuna steak and Mullet with Advo salsa were the standouts. The Kottu was tasty and fresh too. And the cocktails were very good.
Here you're also off the main road so it's nice and quiet and unlike the big restaurants there is no 10% service fee.
The food was twice as good and the bill almost a 1/3 less than on the beach.
Definitely give this...
