We walked 25 minutes to get here, thinking it would be worth it based on the reviews, and we didn’t mind the walk. When we arrived, the place was absolutely magical—the atmosphere and the design outside were lovely. At that moment, we thought the walk had been worth it. I had been excited for a good curry all day, but unfortunately, this was the worst I’ve had in Sri Lanka so far. It just felt like I was eating plain vegetables and rice—there was no real curry, no sauce. The only things that actually tasted like curry were the dhal and sambal. Overcooked carrots aren’t what I’d call a curry, and the beetroot and beans were just plain vegetables served in small bowls. The portion size was also noticeably smaller compared to everywhere else we’ve been—I could tell because, for the first time in Sri Lanka, I actually finished all the rice myself. My partner ordered fish for 3,500, but when I tried it, I had to spit it out… definitely not impressed. It wasn’t inedible, but it wasn’t something we’d ever return for. Overall, we were really disappointed, especially after reading all the great reviews. I was so excited to write a glowing review after seeing the place, but once the food arrived, that excitement quickly faded.

If you're visiting Mirissa, this restaurant is a must-visit! The place is absolutely beautiful at night, creating the perfect setting for a peaceful and enjoyable meal. They offer a variety of options, and food was delicious. What truly sets this place apart is the incredible hospitality. The staff is warm, welcoming, and genuinely helpful. I highly recommend asking them for recommendations before ordering—they give honest suggestions that ensure you get the best experience. The calm and safe atmosphere makes it an ideal spot to have dinner, whether you're with friends, loved ones, or even alone. I had an amazing time with my friends here, and I’ll definitely visit every time I come to Mirissa. Highly recommended!

I was curious to try this place while in Mirissa as it got very high rates and I'm very happy I did. The food is great, the place is nice and cozy and it's a family-owned reality where you really feel they are all there for you. It's off the tourist track, therefore it doesn't get the attention it would deserve. It's a shame to see all those shoddy places by the beach packed with people and this one almost empty. So if you are around Mirissa, do yourself a favour and come try their food, you won't regret it. You can walk here from the main road, it is not that much, like 7 minutes or so... It's also way cheaper than the restaurants by the beach. Cheers.

If I could give more than 5 stars I would!!

Hide Place feels like an oasis away from crazy Mirissa downtown during this busy season. The three brothers running it paid so much attention to detail creating a lovely and cozy atmosphere. I am vegan and they made sure that my curries did not contain any shrimp (paste/pieces). What can I say - it was delicious. Could have been a little spicier but I appreciate that not a lot of visitors can handle Sri Lanka’s heat (in more than one aspect) 😊 Everybody went above and beyond to create a very memorable experience - I even got a lesson how to eat my curry like a local. My execution wasn’t very graceful, but it sure was fun!!

I loved everything...
