He asked me to leave a review so I will state my honest experience: the staff/family are incredibly kind and welcoming. However my experience with the food was not so great.
I ordered shakshuka and iced coffee. Both had really terrible flavor. The coffee had a chemical taste to it, seemingly from the kithul syrup they apparently use, it tasted very bad.
The shakshuka looked ok but the taste was bitter/acidic, perhaps from a canned tomato paste they used. It was not balanced at all. I received it and tasted it, it didn’t have any salt/seasoning in it at all and I had to request salt and pepper. That didn’t help however, the bitterness/acidity overpowered everything. Hashita and Chamara have helped open some of the best restaurants in Weligama like Nomad and Moochies. This experience inspired them to create something of their own earlier this year. the star rating system is but one way of measuring service and quality, but lying in between in the unspoken is the immeasurable humanity - the stars being just a thin veil approximating the experience that i and countless others have experienced coming into contact with Chamara and hashita’s famjam.
raavana comes at my highest recommendation!
