Jay’s cafe — Restaurant in Weligama

It is a cozy little restaurant and the staff is friendly. The timing of the service was not super convenient. About 10 minutes went by between the first and the second person on our table receiving their main dishes. The side dish was only brought after we asked about it, another 15 mins later. And the drink was only brought when we had just left the table to pay the bill. The food is fresh and looks very nice. For foreign visitors it might be good to know though, that the food is seasoned stronger than it would be expected in european fries and wraps. The fries came with a sort of curry coating and our wrap just had a lot of black pepper...

I lived nearby and this was the best option near home. Portions are big! I had coconut curry, ice americano and ice cream. I could not finish the ice cream:)) Everything was great - curry spicy but not too much, ice cream was cold, coffee - large and cold (machine ice was used). Quantity, taste and the amount of options! 🤌🤌🤌🤌 A hidden nook you'd miss unless you knew about it.

The closeness to the bus and train station makes it super viable for any travelling foodie.

Beware: The quantity is more than you'd expect. The food is more filling than you'd expect.

They modify the spice levels based on requests, was perfect for my not-so-spice-tolerant buddies, while my kottu was jst perfect.

Highly recommend their prawn coconut...
