Why have good food when you can have "cool" food?
Insincere hipster irony died in the rest of the world 15 years ago but apparently is alive and well in Sweden. The tiny, dry burger was marked "spicy" but, I guess Northern Europe defines "spicy" as anything hotter than sour cream. I've had spicier toothpaste. Instead I got a tiny patty in a fast food wrapper with condiments that tasted like an ashtray. Of course, in typical hipster fashion, the sides cost extra and a glass of lemonade is 90 kronor. I was personally insulted by the onion rings. 100 kronor for... 5 burnt rings. Not 5 onions' worth or 5 portions, 5(five) sad looking overcooked onion rings. I'd like to hear the explanation on why the portions are mockingly tiny... bet it has something to do with "the environment" or "global warming". I'm actually grateful for the small portions, you have to eat less bad food.
Anyways, two stars as the sound system was really good. I know you can absolutely get good burgers in GBG but this place is a stale ironic joke that should have died in 2014 with the hipster trend....
Read moreWe weren't supposed to go here but somehow ended up eating here. I ordered an Alabama smash burger with some fries, also had a watermelon spritz. The fries were a bit expensive but very tasty so that made up for it. After taking a bite out of the burger I immediately figured out that this was not an ordinary burger place. The burger took me back to when I first tried Swedens best burger in Stockholm back in March (Funky Chicken Foodtruck) and this burger was definitely on the same level as that. After some googling I noticed that this was "only" on 13th place in Sweden according to Burgerdudes but the best in Gothenburg so that was a nice surprise!
Service was good even though it was very crowded and the food and drinks took some time to receive but we were also five persons ordering at our table. However, it was 100% worth the long wait.
I'll definitely come back to try the rest...
Read moreHad lunch here. I chose their burger that came with fries and dip. The fries were well overcooked, like Swedish knäckebröd. The dip had a strange taste and texture, grainy. I could not really make up the flavour but some sort of cheese. I love cheese but this was not tasting well at all. The burger itself tasted alright. It did not have any strong flavours but was instead carried by a fair amount of fat. At the bottom of the paper that surrounded the burger there was a pool of liquid fat. A bit nasty if you ask me. I'd avoid this place for sure. The people I ate with shared the same feelings about the dip, fries and burger - and that it did not live up to the expectations. Oh yeah, the lunch is 145:-, so quite expensive. The atmosphere is noisy factory. You get the food served in a tin box. Those parts...
