Whoever works or studies around Chalmers will maybe know the struggle. Plenty of restaurants around, but most of them rather shady. Normally, if you like to eat something good, you have to bring it yourself - or lower your standards. Slim Pickens, at least for vegans. And that’s alright, the target audience around the campus is primarily students on a tight budget, so no biggies. But, when I can’t prepare food in advance, I’ll have to try my luck. This time, Yoko Sushi at Gibraltargatan. Almost at the end of Gibraltargatan, you can find Yoko Sushi. A little bit hidden in plain sight, but the fish decor in the windows still gives it away. It’s a tiny place, but for that, well decorated and feels cosy and not like someone just rented the locale and put the cheapest IKEA furniture in it. I was just missing any kind of music, so it was a bit eerie. The menu is your typical (Swedish) Sushi place menu. Primarily sushi divided by amount of pieces, some Poké Bowls and in this one, also some warm dishes such as Korean Bibimpap. Nothing out of the ordinary, but that’s also an advantage sometimes. I opted for the Family Size (15 pieces), cause I am a big boy in need of a lot of sushi, apparently. In any case, it comes at a price point of 129 SEK during lunch hours. That’s fair, though feels a bit pricey in the area, especially since no drink is included. While waiting for the sushi, Miso soup is included as well. This one has quite the Miso kick, so I was quite happy about it. Simple pleasures. After a teeny tiny waiting time, my family size plate of sushi arrived. To be fair, I was here around 13:30, so after the students and researchers and whoever is around left again, so it was very empty. The plate itself is filled with 6 maki rolls, 4 avocado pieces and 5 tofu pieces, as well as some soy beans, wakame, ginger and one single Mango piece that I didn’t understand, but appreciated anyways, as Mangos are among my favourite fruits. In terms of taste, it’s pretty alright. Nothing out of the ordinary (again), but the ingredients are of good quality, the rice is fine and with the sides it becomes a decent meal. I am also happy that Yoko Sushi avoided putting pickled red onions as a side. Seriously, what’s up with that Sweden? So, all in all a decent meal at a fair price, but definitely not the best sushi you will ever taste. --- Yoko Sushi surprised me positively. I was ready for disappointment, but I received sushi at a decent quality to a fair price. Not the cheapest, not the best, nor a combination of those, but if you are around Chalmers, it’s a good option for lunch or probably take-away at later times.

I like! Had the sushi to go (with miso included) and it got many stars both from my daughter and me, both for neat composition (with sprouts, mayo and soy beans) and for taste! We had avo, tofu pockets and salmon, all nice and also liked the rice! So star star star star star from us!

Mycket bra mat, tar mellan 5 till 20 min att få maten beroende på hur krånglig beställning man lagt. Dock ganska trångt i själva restaurangen men perfekt till takeaway.

Only two vegetarian options, apparently one of them is takeaway only. When I asked about it the two staff laughed to each other then pointed aggressively saying that only the bimbibab could be eaten in the restaurant.

So I had the bimbibap, which amounts to some cold carrot and...
