The Rain Playground was opened in 2018 as a part of Rain Gothenburg, which was a part of the Gothenburg’s 400th anniversary investment to prepare the city for downpours and floods in the future, but also take advantage of the rains to provide unique experiences. This is a quintessential example of a Scandinavian saying, “There’s No Bad Weather, Only Bad Clothes.”
The playground was designed to be able to have fun even in the rains based on ideas from both children and adults. I often see children in a nearby school are playing on a rainy day, wearing a raincoat and even on a windy and stormy day.
