Cafe Amalia Fornsalen Gotlands Museum — Restaurant in Gotland Municipality

Truly fascinating museum. However my visit was clouded by having been accused twice (!) of not having payed for my coffee (28 SKR) in the (admittedly nice and clean) cafeteria. Make sure to always ask for a receipt, which luckily I did and thus was spared from further unpleasantries. I guess business picked up again after lockdown and the hordes of tourist visitors made you forget to be nice to the individual🥴....after leaving the building I had another employee follow me to tell me off as I parked my rental bike (otherwise a great way of moving around Visby) in the wrong spot...sigh, one of my favourite smaller museums in the world (!) really wants to make sure that I have no wish of...

Eating here most every week, mostly because it is close to work. The food is usually good and well prepared, but I must say that sometimes you can get a bit disappointed. If you get the buffet a soup is included and there is always a vegetarian option, that is usally good, along with one or two meat or fish dishes. In the summer you can enjoy your meal outside. Fine food and service, in a nice historic courtyard located right next to the Gotland Museum entrance.
