I thought it was one of the best museums I have ever been to. The ladies working at the front desk and in the café were all very friendly and helpful and willing to answer any questions we might have had. The museum offers multiple bathrooms, a place to stow away your belongings and a really neat gift shop. The exhibits are wonderful and insightful as to the history and origin of Gotland and its people. 1361, never forget, never forgive. Going through all the floors of the museum and reading and learning about everything is going to take multiple visits, as you get through maybe one floor in the 5 hours while the museum is open, so be prepared for that, if you're willing to soak in all the nuances and information. P. S Be warned, the café is almost always fully packed with people so it might be difficult to find a spot. Overall a great museum and I can't wait to go back there yet again :)

Another great museum in Visby is the Gotland's museum which focuses on the history of the island and starts with Vikings through the medieval times and Christianity and the development of the island. The is also a treasure room with collections through time and and the parts of the medieval town. There is also a huge room for children which has a lot of activities. Presently there is an exhibition on domestic violence which is horrific but very good and well worth contemplating over and about. Finally they have a very good restaurant and coffee shop with excellent prices and selections. Overall a good museum which will keep you entertained for half a day.

Amasing historical museum! Worth visiting. One can see archaeological items from Neolith and North Bronze age (including graves). Iron age & especially Vendel artefacts show vivid peculiarity of this region. Gotland was really no like other Scandinavian countries of the age. Most unique part of collection — burial picture-stones (from IV to X cntrs). Amasing! Almost the half of all exposition is Madiaeval period — especially around Visby wars of XIV cntr. Profeddionally arranged Children Hall is also worth mentioning.
