To date, the most disappointing dining experience I’ve ever had in Sweden.

We went here for what was supposed to be a fine dining experience with a five-course prix fixe menu at around 1000 SEK per person. Unfortunately, it was a complete disappointment on every single level. We were definitely misled by the current reviews.

Let’s start with the pricing: we were charged 75 SEK for tap water - served in a beaker, for some reason, which becomes an odd theme - and 250 SEK for a small pot of tea and two mediocre chocolates. None of these extra charges were disclosed, and there is no physical or online menu to reference.

Service was impersonal and awkward. When my friend and I (both women) sat down, instead of being asked whether we’d like wine, the server asked if we were “allowed” to drink - a bizarre and inappropriate question, especially since we’re both 30. My friend notified them of her lactose intolerance during the very brief introduction, but was later not told about lactose in any of the dishes as they were brought out. She only found out there was lactose once she became nauseated. The staff barely spoke to us throughout the meal, which created a strange, cold atmosphere. They wouldn’t even tell us the kind of tea they had available when they asked if we would be interested in tea.

The setting was equally disappointing: chipped office desks clearly repurposed as tables, worn-out mismatched chairs, and a bussing station right in the center of the room. The building itself looked neglected, and as we made our way from the back around to the front entrance, we were greeted by a large dead rat outside. That alone should have been a warning.

As for the food: heavy on salt, light on flavor, and just no coherence. The tomato starter and fried meat were aggressively salty. The first course, just white asparagus with some sauce, was saved only by the bread. The swordfish with lentils and lobster foam was a confusing, fatty, and dry mess. Couldn’t finish it, even though portions were small to begin with. The beef dish was fine (chewy) but forgettable. The cheese “cake” course was, frankly, repulsive - a blob of French cheese covered in fatty, meat-flavored jelly with meringue underneath. “Dessert” was a soupy, gelatinous concoction of rhubarb and cream with unidentifiable flowers and textures.

Their gimmicky presentations (test tubes, beakers, dry ice) did nothing to elevate the food and if anything felt like someone’s first attempt at experimental cuisine without the education, palate, or hospitality skills to back it up. I hear this received a Michelin star at one point - it was certainly not under this management.

I cannot understand the glowing reviews, especially recent ones. This was, at best, a one-star experience. This place offers none of the luxury, service, and quality that would justify the price.

Edit to add - when we were paying (next to the kitchen, with the kitchen door open) a dog walked out of the...

Unfortunately had a very disappointing experience, mostly due to severe mistakes in the service but the food was way off my expectations too.

The restaurant’s concept is a blind menu where you won’t get any presentations of neither food nor wine until after you’ve consumed it, we had read as much in advance and thought it to be an intriguing way of doing things. However, we were surprised off the bat upon arrival when the service personnel made no reference to this concept and made no effort whatsoever to explain how it worked, we were simply asked what we wanted without being presented with any choices nor prices. After asking we were told that we could choose between 3 or 5 courses and whether we wanted wine or not, nothing more nothing less, they simply assumed we would know everything about them and if we didn’t then too bad for us...

Once service started with some amuse-bouche things took a surprising turn for the worse when one of the servers grabbed my phone which was placed on the table and prompted for whose it was and then proceeded to scolding me for placing it on the table and in a very demeaning way ordered me to put it in my pocket! I was baffled and at a loss for words, I’ve never experienced such a outrageous transgression at any restaurant, never mind a Michelin started one, how does one even respond to that? The rest of the service proceeded without any further issues but the food was throughout very bland and unremarkable. After finishing our meal and declining coffee the servers vanished for 40 minutes and left us hanging. Once I managed to get the bill, I remarked to the server that we hadn’t had the final dish presented to us after eating it as we had with the other dishes at which he cheekily responded that we wouldn’t get it presented in person at all but that we would get a link to look it up ourselves online, a travesty and a joke.

Incomprehensible how the place could have been afforded and kept a Michelin star for several years. In three words I found it hubristic, complacent and stagnant.

Oh, and they charged a service fee for...

I Am completely disgusted and disappointed

I had booked a table to celebrate my partners birthday

On arrival there was no one to greet us then eventually a member of staff came out of the kitchen , looked at us and said “” oh” Not good evening etc as one is normally greeted Our things were dumped uncermoniously on a table

We were not ask us if we had a reservation whch we had!

The character in question simply proceeded to leed us to a table ....in the corner

I said we had reserved response was “no problem “

Really do not think this character was even listening !

When we kindly asked if we could have a window seat, which is kind of the point of the location to be able to enjoy the view of the park, we were met with an abrupt repeated “ NO “ even when we said we had reserved

Never have we been met with such arrogance!

The nite before been to Vollmers where the service was both excellent and warm and then to be treated like rifraf to be shoved on to a corner almost like being next to the toilet type table We left! And went to Johan P instead

You could do well to learn from both of these restaurants and be mindful with social media that you can not and will not get away with treating PAYING customers in such a rude arogant way

Plus the shades were down in any case over the windows which makes a nonsense of the location

On returning to our hotel we contacted you on messenger which you have chosen to ignore

We also looked on tripadvisor Warning to others read all reviews Inc negative This plavce is not

Not Bloom In the park more like

This restaurant is situated in the lush Pildammsparken, hence the name. We ordered 5-course dinner (there’s a min 5 course during weekends, otherwise you can dine less on other days). . We got served snacks : Tomatoes and oyster croquettes, all very tasty, followed by appetizer of cod ceviche with fennel and violet potatoes in ponzu and vegetable dashi. . We also got giant Cecina de Leon ravioli in tomato broth that was probably my fave appetizer of all. . Main course was veal entrecote and the charred edges gave it extra texture and taste. Loved it although I’m not so much into big chunk of meat 💕 . The desserts were actually the stars of the show imho. The first was delice de bourgogne cheese shaped like ice cream (I seriously thought it was ice!) flanked with cracker and yuzu jelly on the bottom, and with little of what I thought as sichuan peppers but I wasn’t sure. The last dessert was more conventional with kombucha & yuzu ice with strawberries and choc crumbles and bee pollen. . All was very good but we found out what we ate later after we paid for the bill. The menu was supposed to be “secret” and you had to guess what you were eating. It was rather fun! This place is good for casual dining, and “the damage” as they called their bills wasn’t so big as I thought. . One star off five was because they didn’t have wine list we could have a look at. Since we didn’t want to get wine pairing, they served us one house white and one house red instead. Rather odd 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️ but okay 👀

My wife and I embarked on a short four-day road trip through Skåne, hoping to indulge in some culinary delights along the way. Naturally, we had high expectations when we reserved a table at Bloom in the Park in Malmö, reminiscing about their Michelin star from 2015. How times have changed. Our evening started on a promising note with the picturesque view of the lake, but unfortunately, that's where the positives ended. Bloom in the Park operates on the premise of a secret menu and wine list, which sounds intriguing until you realize it’s a clever disguise for mediocrity. The service was as mysterious as the menu itself. The waitstaff barely spent 10 seconds at our table, hastily dropping off dishes without a word of explanation. When you finally taste the food and wine, it becomes clear why they keep everything a secret – it’s easier to mask the subpar quality that way. Out of the multiple courses served, my wife couldn't bring herself to finish three of them. Each dish seemed to be a testament to how low they could go while still charging premium prices. It felt like a culinary version of a bait-and-switch – luring us in with past accolades and then leaving us thoroughly disappointed. In summary, Bloom in the Park offers a fantastic view of the lake, which is a good thing because you'll need something pleasant to focus on as you ponder why you chose to dine there. Save your money and your calories – there are far better options in Malmö.
