Scandwich — Restaurant in Malmö kommun

After having eaten and drunk here multiple times (10+), I now feel, after my most recent visits, that I never want to return to this restaurant again. The sandwiches are tasty, but everything else is far below acceptable standards. The staff’s behavior is appalling, and the level of service is non-existent.

During my last visits, I’ve felt that the staff mainly sees customers as a nuisance. Everything seems to be a hassle in their eyes — taking an order is a hassle, answering questions is a hassle, wiping tables is a hassle. On top of the sighs and eye-rolling directed at guests, some staff members’ clothes are torn and dirty.

On my most recent visit, I asked for a sandwich without pork and double-checked with a staff member to be sure. After I had finished eating, I found out that their sauce contained pork. I pointed this out politely and was met with a shrug. When I emailed the restaurant about the incident, I never received any response.

update (may 2023): scandwich continues to impress! took my mom here while she was visiting malmö for a week and scandwich was her favorite meal in the city.

their outdoor patio tables are super nice to sit at now that the weather is warmer and sunny. this month's meat sandwich included pork, pickled green tomatoes, fennel, mayo, pesto, and other greens/herbs. i really liked this one, it was fresh and flavorful! i will definitely come back again :)

scandwich is a well-loved "open face sandwich" spot in malmö--perfect for lunch/dinner with a rotating menu of 3 sandwiches (meat, vegetarian, vegan). generous portions and well-priced (cheaper at lunch)

I had fairly high expectations for Scandwich after reading about it online, but it ended up being one of the more disappointing food experiences I've had in Malmö. The food was just okay, and the menu was extremely limited, with only four sandwiches, one of which wasn’t even available. To make things worse, the staff were unfriendly and clearly uninterested in helping. The entire menu was only in Swedish, and there was no effort from the staff to explain it. Because of that, I ended up mistakenly ordering chips from a store-bought bag with a strange sauce. The whole experience felt cold and careless. Between the lack of variety, the indifferent service, and the underwhelming food, I really can’t recommend this place to anyone. There are far better spots in Malmö that actually make you feel welcome and serve food...
