Taiwanese-styled, old-fashioned Chinese dishes with some local adaptations.
The cooking style here is heavier, oiler, starchier leaning on dark soya sauce, chilli oil and sesame oil. Nothing wrong with this as there are many different styles in Chinese food. But for those more used to the lighter e.g. South Chinese style, this takes some getting used to.
We had the Sweet and Sour Pork, Kung Pao Chicken and the House Beancurd. Serving size was large and can feed 3-5 people adequately when eaten with steamed white rice. The food is not salty but heavy and starchy.
The chunks of pork were generous and meaty. Would be nicer if the meat was more tender.
The chicken had too much tenderizer, making the meat taste spongy and artificial.
The House Beancurd was tasty but had spicy oil in it which made the dish unexpectedly chilli hot.
Overall filling meal, decent old-world food, welcoming, good service, clean and spacious restaurant.
The owner informed that their specialties are beef and braised dishes. Will likely visit again to try some of these to get a better gauge of...
Read moreWe had an incredibly pleasant visit to this authentic Taiwanese restaurant. We stumbled upon it by chance after getting off the ferry, and the owners were exceptionally friendly, even extending their opening hours for us. The hospitality we experienced was truly representative of Taiwanese culture. We ordered the tomato fish and veggie prawn dishes, which were incredibly fresh and bursting with flavor. The flavors were perfectly balanced, not overly salty or greasy, showcasing the wide variety of ingredients found in traditional Taiwanese cuisine. Without a doubt, it is the best Taiwanese restaurant we've come across in Europe. Highly...
Read moreUsed to be a Taiwanese restaurant but the owner has retired and the restaurant has changed hands. The number of items on the menu has also reduced.
Tried the prawn fried rice on our latest visit. At close to 150 sek, it was a king sized portion that can easily feed two people. The dish has some fragrant heat of a firey work and tasted authentic. The prawns were marinated, firm and tasty. There was a good amount of chopped vegetables to the proportion of rice. Overall, this was a well-prepared fried rice, enough moisture...
