Dining at Erna's is like coming home to your aunt. Here you find home styled food and a small, cosy, down to earth setting. We visited for an early dinner and the restaurant was not crowded. Indonesian restaurants are rare in Sweden; Erna's dishes and Javanese cuisine creates a close to home taste. The Rendang has tender soft beef in rich caramelised sauce. It is adapted to local tastes and is "wetter" but still carries nice flavors from the rendang spices. The Gado Gado's star is the Indonesian styled satay/peanut sauce over a salad of potatoes, eggs and cabbage. We also tried Krengsengan - a wok fried lamb with prawn paste. This was full of rich flavors and chilli hot. The lamb is fresh but has a strong 🐑 taste. Dont forget to ask for some of Erna's mean, hot but addictive chilli paste. Our combination of 1 beef, 1 lamb and 1 vegetable was just nice for two people. Warm personable service and food is...
Read moreThe only Indonesian restaurant in Stockholm. If you come in summer, they have nice outdoor seating. They also have weekly menus; you can ask about them at the restaurant or by visiting their Instagram.
For beef and chicken, they cannot yet confirm whether they use halal meat, but they do not sell pork. So, if you are Muslim and want to try Indonesian food, the fish menu should be okay. I recommend the Pepes ikan; it is spicy but it was good.
For vegan menu I would recommend Oseng Tempe and Bakmie Goreng (you could ask to replace the protein with vegan protein like tofu and tempe)
I hope they can one day use halal beef, lamb, and chicken. I tried the Rendang sauce, and it was so good, unfortunately, the beef is not yet halal. Also, I suggest making a vegan Rendang from young jackfruit slices so the deliciousness of the Rendang can be tasted by...

I recently discovered a charming little Indonesian restaurant, and it was an absolute delight! The authenticity of the food was incredible, and engaging with the owner in Indonesian added a special touch. We enjoyed Rendang, kerupuk, lumpia, sate ayam, and ayam bumbu Bali, each dish bursting with authentic flavors. The rendang was perfectly soft and flavorful, and the krupuk accompanied by Sambal terasi was fabulous.
The restaurant also boasts a good selection of wine and beer, even the real Teh Botol, enhancing the dining experience. Dining outdoors was a pleasure, surrounded by a chilled-out crowd and laid-back music. The ambiance was utterly relaxing, making our visit thoroughly enjoyable.
Highly recommend this spot for anyone craving genuine...
