Karlaplan is a station on the Stockholm subway in the Ăstermalm district in Stockholm's inner city.
The station is served by the red line and is located between Ăstermalmstorg and GĂ€rdet stations. The distance to Slussen station is 3.6 kilometers.
The station was inaugurated on 2 September 1967 in connection with the extension of the branch to Ropsten from Ăstermalmstorg. It is located in a cave 23 meters below the ground directly below the FĂ€ltörsten quarter. Entrance is from either FĂ€ltörsten's southern entrance at Karlaplan or from ValhallavĂ€gen/De Geersgatan.
Karlaplan is the eighth deepest subway station on the entire subway network, located 10.6 meters below sea level.
Around the seats on the platforms, the artist Tor Hörlin has decorated a stoneware niche that was inaugurated at the same time as the station in 1967. The photomontage along one of the track walls was created by Larseric VÀnerlöf in 1983. It is 96 meters long and was installed in 1983. The photomontage was renovated and installed in a different technique in 2009.
