Quality of food at La Neta locations has gone to the floor. Meat and sauces are tasteless and to spice things up they decorated the place with a huge sign of “Colosio”, the name of one of the darkest hours of Mexico equivalent to having Olof Palme’s blood stains on a wall for decoration (no commemorative plate or historic context). What a bad taste in all senses. The owner claims it is a political statement, but there is no context and this is something that happened in the 90s, so difficult to understand what statement other than a shallow decoration.
From someone that appears to be of Mexican or Hispanic descent, in a review she wrote "this place has a variety of hot sauces available", this is by all standards untrue, sauces are not hot at all, some of my friends do not tolerate any degree of hotness and thought La Neta's sauces were tasteless. That raises questions about some reviews. They have other reviews pointing out the tasteless of the food.
Instead of the owner replying to look into La Neta's food quality, he diminishes diner's reviews. They believe they have good rates but they stand out by little against some of the worse Tex Mex restaurants in Stockholm. They should and can do better but instead their answer is that they reproduce the Mexican experience. I don't have a Mexican experience of low quality, tasteless food or ugly looking places. Why not reproduce the experience of a good...
Read moreMe and my colleagues often eat here around once a week. Really like it, the sauces are homemade so they can vary in how hot they are from time to time but often they keep around the same "level".
During lunch it's busy and crowded so try and come either before or after.
Sometimes during lunch they might serve the food when it's not a 10/10 which in my book is: A nice colour on the tortilla which is fried (but not stale and hard or pale and not fried) Melted cheese and quite a lot of it (instead of seeing the grated cheese) Generously with meat / stuffing without going overboard but during lunches it's quite stressful and I am quite picky because I love their food so normally it's good and more often then not very good.
The meat (Pirata which is my favourite) is tender and juicy, during my very latest visit I got quite a lot of pieces of cartilage in the meat but almost never experienced it before.
Would recommend two taco grandes which are tortillas with different fillings for one person (and one side if you are very hungry).
Be sure to try their "Negra Modelo" (beer) which goes well with the tacos.
The seating is quite limited especially during lunches so be prepared to sit on a bar-stool next to the window or wait a bit for a table to open up.
No reservations which is nice but DON'T take a table before you ordered your food which some people do that is quite a bad...
Read moreIf you’re looking for authentic, amazing Mexican food this is the place! I used to love in Southern California and have had my fair share of Mexican food and La Neta is really good.
I usually get tacos when I go there and al pastor are my favorite. Meat is so well seasoned and the pineapple adds a bit of sweetness which is delicious. Today though I got quesadillas - rajas and choripapa. The rajas one was really good like rajas always it. But the choripapa - oh my god! It’s the best thing I’ve eaten in a while. Absolutely delicious. The chorizo was so flavorful and together with the potatoes and onions it was just perfect! Do try it!
The place is very loud, but the food is too good for them to lose a star because of that. But as for improvements they could try to...
