NO. We can not recommend visiting this place at all. At first we had a really nice evening with good service and nice food.
Unfortunately things went south later when my partner stepped out for a cigarette. When he attempted to get back in to join me at our table I had to hear that he's been attacked by a "security guard" who stated that my partner was too drunk to re-enter the restaurant. We both were in the middle of our second beers and if not sober definitely not visually inebriated. A major discussion with several of these people ensued. They were standing around our table in their "colorful security guard gear". I then requested to speak to a our waiter who also had to lead a lengthy discussion with the attackers only to take responsibility for us. So we were allowed to end our evening by paying the bill and leaving insecure and upset by this unacceptable behavior.
Please consider your visit to this place carefully and under no circumstances drink any alcohol. It might get embarrassing or even violent. Spend your money elsewhere.
Update: I already emailed Kvarnen and even got a reply. But this isn’t about emails – it’s about the fact that nothing ever changes. For years reviews mention harassment, racism, sexism and homophobia. Every time management says “not acceptable, we will act” – yet nothing improves. Do you actually want to...
Read moreI had the worst experience at this restaurant/ bar that I have had in Stockholm so far. I went on a Friday evening with a group of Swedish, American, Canadian, and Irish friends. We got a table and needed one more chair. I was looking around and saw a lot of free chairs but they were high-backed and wouldn't fit where we were sitting so I went to a server to ask if he knew if there was another chair we could pull up. A pretty simple request I thought. Not only did the server refuse to help or offer a chair, he was very rude. He then proceeded to cut off my friend presumably just for being loud (we are a chatty bunch) since none of us had had too much to drink. About an hour later, after one drink, I was also cut off and no one could inform me of why. If I had been stumbling or clearly drunk it would be understandable but instead, the security woman just told me she had been studying how to spot drunk people for 15 years. I wasn't aware there was a 15 year program you could take for this.
Essentially, if you want to go to this bar, make sure you aren't 'loud' (chatty or foreign) because they will treat you like dirt and eventually cut you off. Service from the waiters was terrible, I've never been treated with...
Read moreI have visited this restaurant very often in the last few months and have always been satisfied with the quality of the food and the service. But visiting Kvarnen for dinner with friends on April 15, 2025 left a very negative impression for the first time, after which I realized that I do not want to return to this place anymore and invite friends. Despite the fact that everyone was delighted with the dishes, the service from the elderly woman waiter was extremely rude and abrupt. The waiter more than once independently and rudely pushed the guests' hands away to take away dirty dishes, instead of politely asking "can I take the dishes?". And the moment when we paid the bill was the last straw. She was irritated by the fact that we would like to split the bill and pay separately, after which the waitress almost snatched bank cards from our hands, inserted them into the terminal herself and quite rudely and abruptly put the terminal on the table, and then almost threw the cards on the guest's table after completing the payment. From her body language, all the guests felt like we were not welcome and that she did not want to serve us, although we were very calm and...
