Daltons Saloon — Restaurant in Sundsvall Municipality

The 4-star is from that this place is so 'small-city/village'-like, hence a bit of a experience, but it is really a 3-star place maximum. It is rather hard to find a place like this in a big city, as the audience tend to split up on several avenues, as they do have the options. Here in Sundsvall, they all cram into one single place, giving a bit of unique look into the local society/audience. (Written by a guy who left a similar sized city 40 years ago - a bit of a nostalgia trip) It is the last place to close in the evening in Sundsvall at 2 in the morning, so it is the local 'last chance' and the quality of service and the guests reflects that. Directly when you enter you have the Gardrobe that requires 40 SEK entrance fee, regardless you have a jacket or not (they did not appreciate my offer to leave my T-shirt there). To the left is the bar-room with a Karaoke-stage and the performances rated from 'rather than good' to 'bad', but the audience were happy (= their friends) and they seem to know each other. Many 'Men-On-Men' couples in this area. In the area to the right of the entrance is the local 'Casono', with some tables, so guests coming early wanting to speak (loudly) may prefer this place. The tables may though be reserved for diners initially, which probably is not a good choice. Both rooms totally crowded and hard to move around when we arrived after midnight on night to a Thursday a week before Christmas. It was for us a cheap place, compared to Stockholm-prices, but quality of mixed drinks...

They've put effort where effort should be, and it makes it a great value place especially for an afterwork dinner with a beer. Not the widest beer selection even though the vibe calls for it, but a perfect place to hang and talk, even with strangers and to the latest of hours if...

Det är för vanligt att folk i branschen i huvudstaden har gått vilse och glömt vem som är viktig i restaurangen: gästen! Genuint trevligt, vaket, enkelt och gott på Daltons! Jag rekommenderar alla som kommer på besök till Sundsvall, denna pärla bland städer, att besöka Daltons som lägligt nog ligger nära tågstationen. Så ett besök vid ankomst, ett andra på vägen...
